The sim/sid files are encrypted (The method mentioned a few posts ago.) and it uses a encryption key, this key isn't available yet (Valve isn't exactly stupid.) so it won't be possible to unpack these archives until it's released, usually on the release date (10th, US version, EU release on the 12th is only held by Steam even though the key is available.) or shortly before and once that's available unpacking these archives is a fairly easy process.

Of course that only gives access to the files, a crack for the Steam integration on the EXE is needed (Assuming it's nothing else on there like activation.) unless a loader workaround will function or a Steam emulation program but those are risky (Don't ever use your real Steam account information, fairly obvious but worth mentioning anyway.)

I expect we'll see on the 9th.

yeah, we're too stupid, so thats why we need matchmaking ... and OBVIOUSLY both matchmaking and oldschool server browser can coexist .... DUH ...

hope they rott in hell lol.

Well to be fair, I'd have to refer to Epsilon's quote about HIS opinion on console gamers being stupid, so it's not a stretch to imagine Craptivision attributing the same to PC gamers too. Erroneously of course Laughing

Btw, this is the copy of retail dvd, so is possible later (Nov 10) to use original key with it to install and activate game on steam and play it, like any purchased game?

Yes, but if you have a key you can just download game via Steam.

For those in a America, Canada, or Mexico location the game will probably show as installed and will be playable when Valve "unlocks" it on the 10th, for th EU locations it'll probably show as "not released" until it's released on the 12th, atleast that's how it's been so far. Smile
(Ofcourse once it's released nothing prevents some person to crack the files and release it or in this case decrypt and extract the SIM/SID files manually.)

I remember several years ago, when HL2 clone coming out, guys can extract the files out of the encryption before the steam unlock date, why it's impossible now?


A playable version of HL2 had been leaked before the official release, that's why people could play the game. It's not like nowadays, that NO playable PC-Version is provided to ANYone, be it gmaesites, magazines, tv, etc...

We waiting for the encryption keys to unpack the sid files and the only way know about them is when the game will be released. Talking about crack is useless for now. Maybe revloader will be enough i don't know.

Only 2 more days so i guess we'll can wait till then..Like i said one page ago,maybe there'll be a crack before the 10th or not..We all dont know how good the crackers in the scene are,even when it seems impossible to do it..And when they dont crack it before the 10th,well,2 days.. Holy fuck,we can wait 2 days!
