Just got my new broadband installed with VM. Set up the PS3 and connected it to the wireless. It is not letting me play games online, so I did a connection test and it revealed.. :

Firewall settings are off, I am stumped :/
error code 8002A548 when i try to sign into my account on demons souls. Just to make a note, I can update the ps3 fine. It's downloading the firmware updates for Uncharted right now. but when it tries to install it says there was an error. Then when I get back to the main menu theres a corrupted data icon :S so its definitely connected. I just can't play online on any games or install any downloaded updates. WTF?

Come on wgem, you must have learnt by now there is a console technical forum.....
Search for your router + NAT + ps3 and i'm sure there is something you need to disable on the router... cant remember what now.

It's cool. I had this problem with my BT Home Hub. I'm pretty sure there are a few ways to get the NAT changed, usually settings in the router. Google will hopefully lead you to the right place!

is NAT 2 not good? I was thinking NAT 1 was direct connection to the internet which it isnt? NAT 2 is router connection right?

Nat 2 is good, you can play online games with no problems. Nat 3 is the bad one.

Try completly turning the firewall off on the router then see if it works, if it does then your firewall is blocking the PS3's ip/port maybe.
I like bum.

fixed this by putting the ps3 into DMZ. fucking no idea what was wrong so fuck it. working now..
