Sometimes you can turn your back on your kids for 3 sec and sometimes bad happens. She is fucked for life after this. That is all it took. 3 - 5 sec's.

what struck me is that at the moment the pram gets hit by the train all bystanders move away from the mother
the mother shows signs of great distress and a few seconds later a few bystanders decide to do the decent thing and come into action
any sociologist around who can explain that?
and indeed nice to know it had a good ending

Most people will instinctively flee from danger, a screaming woman can be a sign of danger. After that their cognitive abilities probably kick in, so they try to help.

People dont want to have to deal with other peoples issues anymore in todays world, what they all wanted to do when u see them back off, was walk into a little box and close the door. But there was no door and no 4 walls to hide in..
So they then see others make a move towards here and go oh maybe I should follow this and do the same, and before you know it they are all over her like a rash..
Human beings.... the fucked up critters of the universe

Yeah.
I'm just glad there's a happy ending to that story. Too much grief in the news, it's nice to see a happy ending for once -- and I'll bet that dumb bitch doesn't leave the pram facing the tracks, without engaging the break, ever again.

Oh my god, this is so shocking. That buggy must have cost over a hundred pounds! Does anyone know if it was repairable?

I didn't LOL at the video (I was shocked more than anything) but I LOL'd hard at the "expensive buggy" comment simply because it's nice to have something TO laugh at, at the end of it all.

That is one lucky baby! Hope it doesn't grow up and judge its mother (after seeing the video) too quickly like some people here.

Nooooo, of course not! We definitely shouldn't judge her over leaving the baby in the pram, facing the tracks, with a train oncoming, and not even thinking to engage the break. Nope, definitely shouldn't judge her on that.
Seriously.

No parent can watch their children 24 hours of the day. Everyone lets down their guard unkowingly at some time or the other. Most times nothing serious happens but sometimes the consequences are fatal. Ofcourse the mother was careless but to think that she's a bad mother or 'a fool' is just judging without any context. These things are called accidents and despite our best intentions, they happen. And that platform didn't help the situation. It could be just wearing unevenly but it is definitely not level.

Im was about to say what swingman said. She made a human mistake, and yes, it was a very bad one. But they happen and you can't define a person from just one accident.
