BSG with stargates. Awesome, but i really hope they won't use flashbacks in this series. Hope it was just this introduction thing.

As the only of Emmerich's movies I enjoyed Stargate as well(of course i was 8-9 at the time) but I find everything that spins off that movie to be incredibly cheesy. Depends on how much you like sci-fi, i guess

i must say i like where this one seems to be headed, the bit more darker "realistic" path... (what i hope it will remain) sure the original was great and all, but the family friendly show style is more of an early 90ties thing

Yeah you can easily start watching this without seeing either SG:1 or SGA - it has its own cast and is meant to stand on its own as a series.

But holy fuck, how has MacGyver's face swollen! Haven't seen in him in a lot of years (haven't ever watched SG), and the other day I was looking at clips of MacGyver on YT, and yesterday I see his face and I was WTF!

SG1 and SGA, especially SG1, were far superior shows compared to SGU. They had a few things that all the other scifi shows lacked - great humor and memorable cast.

I hate that they are doing BSG thing with SGU, thus making the show completely "serious" and very generic. Was it really necessary to so blatantly rip off BSG by showing BSG style sex scene in a pilot episode?

I'll still keep watching, but looks like no scifi show will ever top SG1 Sad

I really liked that, I never really was a big fan of the cheesiness of SG1 or SG:A, still watched them both due to liking Sci-Fi. But I'm very glad they decided to cut the RDA-humour and wit out of the script. The more serious/realistic tone suits me perfect (and yes it's clearly taken from BSG, which to me IS A GOOD THING). Thus far it's a bit cliché, but it certainly has potential.

I also think fisk should be unbanned.

yes... i really liked the pilot too. i never watched bsg so i dunno about the seriousness and stuff... but i liked the darkness of it and the whole argh feel to it. it just seemed like a perfect fit for SG.

I want to be the meat in a Katee Sackhoff-Tricia Helfer sandwich.

Grace Park can be side dish.

Interesting start with a decent cast. I don't like the angry black dude though, seems too much like a stereotype. I do agree it seems a bit like a BSG rip-off, but we'll see how it turns out.

Haha, didn't think of that, kind of obvious though lol, but I knew the moment someone say "someone will have to stay behind and press the button" that the sick senator will be the one to stay. This is such a cliched plot device... Razz

Just watched the premiere, was good Smile Stargate has always been good. Seems to be much more "darker" than SG1 and Atlantis, but its not bad thing.

Horrible Sad

What did they do to my Stargate. Crying or Very sad

This is like a bad SGU user mod built on BSG game engine.

Yeah, boring episode. They need to create a fanbase now, that won't happen with this episode. It wasn't horrible though.

Trys to be like Battlestar Galactica but fails.
