I believe the control options were in a separate file, might have missed them, there's a few other missing pieces here and there as this is primarily a comparison between the Call of Pripyat files and the Clear Sky files and the CoP data has many more entries than the CS one which is why this was more of a quick fix for core elements with the HUD and game menus though it certain can (And probably even needs.) be updated a bit as it's quite basic at the moment.

First area is said to be about 2x the swamp area in Clear Sky, seems to be about four levels all in all (From what I can see from the unpacked data.) so the larger size is quite welcome, although they're a bit barren and low-detailed compared to the areas in Clear Sky or even Shadow of Chernobyl.
(It doesn't look that bad though.)

So which version did JB and others actually use to achieve an install of this? Correct me if I'm wrong but obviously the STALKER Call of Pripyat-FREELANCER V (netframe character issue) won't install as a couple other members have also found. Another waste of bandwidth for me but so be it.
There are 3 bin files in that release which so far I can't find a way to extract usable data from prior to install. Also the setup.exe is screwed with that release as I found with a hack tool.

A repacked edition, unpacked the content with Winrar manually and started it from there (Was mentioned a bit earlier by another user.) as the setup file was a bit odd, perhaps due to language and localization differences. Smile

AFAIK, only on Windows 7 you can make it work.

That registry string mentioned previously alters the Windows version, set it to 200 and it'll display Windows 7 Service Pack 2 thus confusing the Star-Force drivers and making them fail a bit, same with setting it to 400 on XP (With SP3) and thus fooling them into believing it's XP SP4 or 300 for Vista SP3. Yes, but that Freelance version won't install on any OS as it is IMO. If there is a way and I've missed something, that's what PM's are for.

JB, you've got 1 hell of a keen eye. During my frustrated exploration of this I wondered WTF happened when SP was displayed on 7 ??
Thanks for filling in the gaps!

So did I, googled it and found out that's what the registry value does, it's minor but once the game is cracked I would recommend setting it back to it's previous value and restarting, might interfere with windows updates otherwise, for example.

I downloaded STALKER Call of Pripyat(RU) REPACK(better with setup). It installed flawlessly. Mini image is located in the game's folder. I mount it with DT Lite (tried both mdf and mds files) and i can't run the game. It keeps asking for an activation code. And if i try to run the game through the image file it says my OS (win7 64bit) is unsupported.

It'll ask to either authenticate via a serial number or a disc check, choose to use the disc check and install the drivers (Or run the Protect.exe file directly in the games install folder and install them from there.)

It'll then try to verify the image, if it appears to pause or even freeze here then it'll have failed and you need to do that registry alteration and restart.

Unsure about a unsupported OS message, I use W7 x64 and it works fine.
(Ultimate, build 7600 RTM with all available updates, though some of those are leaked test things but they shouldn't affect anything.)

Install the drivers and then check their status, it's the latest version so updating them isnt' needed.

Ignore the disc-free options as those are for online activation.
(Somewhat, needs to be re-activated once in a while, every three months or so I believe it was set to.)

Then you should just have to launch Stalker-COP.exe (XRGame.exe could also work.) and say you want to do a disc check and not the online activation process, if you clicked on online activation before there's a link in the description of the system (In the program window.) that'll take you back to disc verification. Smile

The sendspace link I posted a page or two back contains the Russian text files (From the config.db file.) compared against the Clear Sky files so where the data "header" or what to call it were identical I just copied and pasted back the English text strings.

Bit technical perhaps but it's easy to get it working. Smile

In the game folder (Location you installed game to.) create a folder called "gamedata" and then in it place the xml files from the rar archive so that it looks like this \configs\text\rus\ (XML files thus go into the "\GameData\configs\text\rus" folder.)

Then open FSGame.ltx (located in the root folder of the game, main install folder that is.) and change the line pointing to \gamedata\ from false | true to true | true to allow it to read unpacked files.

It'll load the translated data as soon as you start up the game. Smile
(A lot more would be needed to get it fully translated, there's a pack archive a few posts up with some more translated lines in it but it seems to have gone trough a machine translation utility so it's a bit odd in places.)

Hehe, taking the st_subtitles.xml file as a example it works out OK in some places.

<text>On the night of April 26, 1986 the fourth reactor of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant was destroyed by a powerful thermal explosion. Taken up by the wind radioactive dust fell partly on the territory of the USSR, leaving pockets of radiation in Europe and even reached the shores of America.</text>

And not so well in others.

Exactly the same as clear sky for me at least. If I turn on all the goodies like god rays, dx10 lightning and all that, the game is not very playable but it looks good. If I turn it all off, it will look EXACTLY like SOC, and will have a perfect performance.
