I don't know who recommended this show in my topic at Movies section some time ago, but it's the best fucking series I have ever seen. I want 7th season, damn it!

Didn't try BSG(I'm not really into sci-fi), but I'm currently on 3rd season of The Wire. The Wire really pushed me back at first because 1st season was sooooo slow until maybe 5th or 6th episode, but after that it went like a knife through butter.

Yep, that's the most important thing to remember with The Wire, it takes time to ease into. By the way, S1 wasn't the slowest of them, it was you not used to the show. I'm sure if you watch it now (or after you finish the whole show), it will seem much faster for you. As for BSG being a sci-fi show, it really isn't that heavy on the science fiction elements (beside the story taking place on a huge space battleship and seemingly the main villains being robots ). I found the show to be much more about personal drama and, later, theological debate of sorts.
