The Good Shepherd 2/5
I hate these types of single emotion movies where the director weaves every scene together without a clear pause or shift. Everyone looks like they've got indegestion. Its shame, I was expecting a nice look into the dirty underbelly of international espionage and the birth of the CIA.

Knowing - 7.5/10, good film, good concept, it felt to me as if the film didnt know where to stop. The last bit at the end where the kids are in that field was just unnecessary

yeah would have been nicer to just imagine the aliens sold all the kids at an alien slave auction!
i think the reason they had to add the last bit, was because all life on earth (except the fucking cockroaches, ill bet...) getting completely destroyed, was probably too much of a downer to finish off on...
that, and to assure the viewers that the aliens weren't just intergalactic pedophiles...

Boat that rocked - 8/10
Nice movie, and great actors.

Knowing 2.5/5
Loved the ending, and whole end of the world stuff but the subplot with Nic Cage and his son was almost painful to watch. So predictable and clicheed. It amazes me that movie makers still go for this formula, terrified of changing it one bit. I would love to have seen a "normal" family, something resembling the family in E.T or Poltergeist. As stated above what I hated about the movie The Good shepherd is apparrent also in this flick. The single emotion fenomenon where everybody looks so damn EMO. It gets really boring really fast to see someone with the same expression on their face. When everyone else in the movie does the same you know somethings wrong, namely lazy directing.
No wonder people download movies.

often the groups ripping these movies are too damn lazy to include them.
but in the case of the first taken BR rip I had, it was a french release so there was no 'alien' subs on this release, just english for everything (english and french) or nothing.

Marley and me - 8/10
totally not the kind of film i'd watch, ever. I'd usually avoid this kinda thing, especially when Owen Wilson is in it. But I'm a dog lover and I really enjoyed this movie.. was one of those easy going, feel good flicks. Good if you just want to chill with some junk food and feel good.

So what kind of movie is it really? I don't dare visit the imdb forums for spoiler fears, and the synopsis doesn't tell me what I really want to know... mainly:
Does it have a story and is it focusing on the story? Or is it just one of those torture gallore movies where the story/plot takes a backseat? If it's the first one, then I'll watch it... |
I haven't watched it, but as far as my understanding goes, the story is pretty decent, the gore however, is not, I think this is one of the most explicitly visceral movies to come in a long time.

The gore is a big part of the story tho it's not so 'meaningless' why they do it.

It's not mindless torture, it's much more than that.. you watch it, you enter the characters' mind and you can feel the hell he's living in (well, sure, you could say every torture movie tries to do that but imo only one in a hundred actually succeeds).. you feel how wrong everything is and it's shocking you.. not necessarily the gore scenes alone - but the sum of it's parts, the circumstances, the story etc.. you should watch it ^

could they have not borrowed anymore scenes from T2? That's all the last 20 or so minutes of the movie was, a remake of T2

Still, i haven't seen IB. So maybe it is good. I only read a review on a polish site and it was very favorable. We'll see...
