You guys still don't get it, right? There IS a LAN option in D3, you only have to validate your game with the Battle.Net server when starting a game. The actual hosting of the game is on your pc, so you CAN start a lan game, you only need to have a legal serial and a Battle.Net account to go with it.

What's not there is "offline multiplayer", everything's validated with Battle.net.

Anyhow, Blizzard is imho one of the few developers that should be supported, so buy this game. Quit whining about possible features you're missing out on if you're downloading warez, like you've even got a right to whine without buying it.

all is right. LAN = offline multiplayer but it there will be not in d3 or starcraft 2. for this i think there will be no free online game. everything will be validate online with Battle.net so one is obliged to create an account here and almost have to buy a key to play multiplayer. anyway that will be a game that i will support for the next year Smile

d2 still haved a lan support though. now battle.net is property of Blizzard and all their games actually support the online play on battle.net only. yep it is free 2 use however but not for pirates anyway but maybe someone will be still able to create some offline shard just as WOW Wink

If this is anything like the original DII, I can't see anyone having a reason to "fuck this title" like they do with all the other little scrabble bullshit in other games

Though I do see a high number of cry babies using the no lan support as a scapegoat because they want to play the game online for free. Todays internet everyone would be playing on battlenet from their house reguardless.

d and d2 was not battle.net only but still allowed several types of multiplayer connections and the IPX for the online network play as well. but this feature there will be not in d3 as far i know

I think the lack of LAN play really sucks. That means that I won't be able to play multiplayer at a friends house unless they have internet, which some of them can't get high-speed at their houses.

Does anyone know if they've cleared up weather or not it only authenticates on battle.net, then communicates locally, or will everything go through battle.net? If it's the latter, then you'll need some decent speeds the more and more players you add to the group.

I'm all about fighting piracy, but not at the expense of game features.

Nothing like getting a Keg, and me and the wife inviting some peeps over for a lan party, I would be highly disappointed if SC2 sticks with the no LAN option...

It's very cool. My camputer has two internets. One for looking at windows and one I can send text all the way australia or africa if I want to. Maybe not africa, but definately Mexico. Australia is a long way but I have a very powerful camputer. I bought the most expensive they had in the store and got an extra internets for free!

this is an hope or you really got this news from Blizzard? but i do not think never them will have intention to release a LAN patch anyway. them have developed their Battle.net platform just to make everyone play online here. there will be no fee added to pay to play online (only a valid key i think to have access to Battle.net with all features) so pirates does not have nothing to claiming about this. just buy the game if you like play multiplayer
