.. a man came up to me to start a conversation. He made small talk, a lonely man talking about the weather and other things. I tried to be pleasant and accommodating, but my head hurt from his banality. I almost didn't notice it had happened, but I suddenly threw up all over him. He was not pleased, and I couldn't stop laughing.

What I love the most is the dialogue. No film comes close for me, the relationship between somerset and mills, and THE scene in the car, awesome Smile

Eh?

 Spoiler:

It's really good for a 1995 movie, quality is excellent.

Fuck this shit! Nouse is right, the Bluray is not that good, 1080i and an open-matte (which is fine by me, but 1080i?)

 Spoiler:

Still looks good, for a 1995. Better than the old 720p HDTV encode I had, and most definitely better than a puny DVD. Laughing

Bass is also good, something that is very lacking on most pre ~1998 movies. Smile

Alliance is a Canadian company releasing sub-par Blurays using television masters... this isn't the only one they've botched either.

The question remains, is it possible to do better for a 1995 film. Usually films shot between 70s to mid-90s don't do that well (exceptions exist, of course). It is interesting, that classic films look exceptionally well on HD, perhaps because of the wider film used in cameras in these periods; easier for the telecine machines to preserve details. Smile

I wonder if it's from the same master as the New Line special edition I have (SD DVD)... on the back of that case it says 'remastered from original film negatives' ...

Well, for a 1080i open-matte, it sounds more like a cinema reel. Wink

OMG! I watched that movie and missed seeing all those plates on that dinner table. My movie experience and enjoyment of the movie would have been so different if I could have seen those plates. I would have been able to provide a better context to the plot and how it unfolds if I had known that there were more plates in that scene. But more importantly, how did what was on those plates affect the characters and their actions? What was served on those plates? Did they eat any of the food that was on those plates? They've ruined it all by leaving those plates out of the scene! Those bastards! Sad

Please try harder to come out with a witty or mocking post next time. Embarassed It fits neither with the "omg how dare they, they changed the director's vision" school of thought, nor the "yay open matte is better, it shows more stuff" one. Rolling Eyes

Nope, because it doesn't hit anyone who has posted here actually. Nouse complained that it was with a wrong AR (but not cropped as would usually be implied), while I said open-matte is fine. Embarassed Now on the other hand if you were to bla bla about how the missing pixels from a real good 1080p would "provide a better context to the plot", that would have been much better. Wink

Am I the only one who thinks it sounds like a quote from a Chuck Palahniuk or maybe even a Bret Easton Ellis novel? Laughing
