sigh... sam raimi for world of warcraft movie Sad

im not a warcraft fan, but i am a fantasy/adventure/action film fan, and im sorry but spider-man 3 just does not bode well for this... why dont they just give it to uwe boll dammit... im not kidding, i hate sam raimi's films so much ( apart from AOD naturally) that id rather see boll do it - atleast with boll, you know itd have some violence and some blood in it, , instead of being some stupid cheesy piece of wussified crap... and lets face it, boll IS starting to get a LITTLE bit better at making movies... where as raimi has been sliding down since AOD...

http://www.reelzchannel.com/movie-news/3940/sam-raimi-to-direct-world-of-warcraft-movie

but heres what i dont get... ive seen some of the warcraft cgi's ( from wow and from previous warcraft games) and they were amazing... why the hell dont blizzard direct it themselves? dont tell me THEY dont know how to make a piece of entertainment, and dont tell me THEY wouldnt understand what it takes to make the film the best it could be... why rely on a shitty hollywood director when their own talent is infinitely better suited and more creative than raimi?

So that's going to be a CGI like Resident Evil: Degeneration, or FF? Or like Uwe Bolls shit Bloodrayne?

Hopefully CGI, not many of those around (good ones atleast). I'll laugh if they try to make it live action.

HAVE YOU SEEN DRAG ME TO HELL?
and spidey 3 on its own was a decent movie...
as a spiderman movie it was shit and that's sony's fault.
don't blame sam for something he had no hand in.
quality wise spidey 3 was great.
if they cut off eddie brock then the movie would've been an ace spiderman movie...
but fuck fans and sony decided to add in MOAR story and MOAR characters and LESS time Laughing

drag me to hell was amazing. atmosphere. style. it was great!
raimi can do a fantasy movie... rarely do his movies suck...
people just hate spidey 3 cause they got shat on...

they can make it live action.
it wont be an epic fight this and fight that movie... it'll follow a story or something.

A wow movie? I wonder what the plot will be like, why not make a Warcraft movie instead, a Wow movie is what, something like South Park did it, 4 kids playing Wow until they get pimples and 300 pounds.

the lore in wow is just as rich as in any other warcraft game, anyway i'm sure it's gonna be more based on warcraft series than anything - having it named WoW will just catch peoples attention more, it's an extremely well known franchise.

from what ive been reading, they keep saying 'live action', so expect to see tobey maguire in a bad haircut as an elf or some shit.

no i havent seen drag me to hell... kinda avoided it after raimis track record with films post AOD... nothing he's done has been great since that film... the first spider-man was pretty good, much more mature than the other 2, but yeah...

and i disagree on spider-man 3 being good on any level... i mean yeah i WOULDNT call it completely shit, or one of the worst films ever... i mean it LOOKED ok, as youd expect from such a major production, but the dialog, story and characters were weak, the action was generally meh (apart from 1 or 2 sequences which were really nice), and large chunks of it were just downright embarrassing and horrible to watch... overall it it was a very forgettable film.

i just dont think choreographing 1 or 2 nice action sequences, adding some some nice cgi, and throwing obscene amounts of cash at a film so that it doesnt look 'cheap', makes it great.

they should give it to a starship troopers era paul verhoeven Very Happy

but to be honest, id love to see someone like david fincher do it... he's not the kind of director you would automatically associate with a fantasy film, thats why it would be awesome to see how he'd do, because he really is fucking awesome...

He's only done 2 movies worth watching...Seven and Fight Club.

How about Woody Allen? Would be a triangle drama with 2 taurus and a very young elf.

I think Guillermo Del Toro is the best man for the job (aside from Jackson, but he won't do high fantasy again). He has proven he can create very mature and interesting fantasy worlds without falling to silly cliches.

The hot topic currently raging at Blizzard's creatively leaning offices is apparently "What role will Bruce Campbell play?" That's according to Blizzard VP of creative development Chris Metzen, who thinks that Raimi, director of the Spider-Man and Evil Dead trilogies, is "gonna rock it out."

"I keep thinking [Campbell] might make a killer Goblin," Metzen said during today's Warcraft "Epic Loot" Comic-Con panel. "He's got a kick ass chin."

Metzen commented casually that he'd envisioned the actor taking a digital role, perhaps in Gollum style pre-rendered performance.

While Metzen couldn't say much about the Warcraft flick in an official capacity other than "we're prepping all engines to rock" and his comments about a Bruce Campbell cameo weren't confirmation that the actor is signed on, it sure sounds like a good idea.

Fuck yes. Tho he should be cast in a major role instead of some puny cameo. Like Varian Wrynn. Hail to the King, baby! Very Happy

i would have said del toro (he was basically the first name that came into my head after jackson, but like you said i dont think he'd touch fantasy again, atleast not for a while), but hes said he only likes doing dark fantasy that appeals to him... as cool as it would be to see wow as dark, mature, surrealistic and dramatic, i think we both know that'll never happen...

Well, he's doing The Hobbit now, so he might be opening to more options. Also, the Warcraft lore has some pretty "dark" stuff, but I agree with you that the studio will probably turn this into a juvenile turd. Sad

Why all the negativity. Seriously.
This movie will probably do fine, and about it being "LIVE ACTION"; lul whut, what was so god damn bad about for example; "Lord of the rings" and such? They could easily create the races from wow without it seeming like some 80 dollar suits on the main characters.

I just think you got horny watching the nice CGI-movies from the WoW games and thinking that nothing else would be as awesome as that.

Squirrely: Now come on y'all. We can't waste time arguing. There could still be survivors out there. We need to hunt them down, and kill them.
Beary: How about we kill them, and then rape their bodies so we can use their blood as lubricant.

spider-man 3 did fine... this is based on a massive gaming franchise... no one is debating that it will do VERY well based on the name and fanbase alone.

wont change the fact its got a shitty director at the helm and its going to be a very lightweight family friendly movie.

anyone want to bet there probably wont be even a drop of blood in it beyond some of characters faces during/after battles IF THAT?

and im not against a live action WOW... i dont see how anyone could be... we KNOW live action fantasy films can be done very well and be amazing.. its just... well... spider-man fucking 3 for fucks sake, dammit. anyone else running the show, id be more optimistic i think... but yeah, cgi would be great, but the fact its live action is NOT the problem....

oh yeah for sure... i mean the 300 million theyll probably throw at it ALONE guarantees some cool cgi sequences and some sweet set design... thats the one good thing about franchises this big... they command MASSIVE production costs... and because wow is such a hugely successful one, u know theyll be happy to throw SHITLOADS of money into it, hoping for another LOTR...

im not saying money = greatness, but i am saying im a cgi and effects-and-design-work fanboy, and so for that fact alone, it'll be probably the only thing ill be looking forward too in this film and it'll be probably some impressive as hell stuff worth seeing so i cant wait for the film in that regard Wink

Well, your wish is somewhat contradicting because WOW just picked up 4 years after WC3, afaik, so it is a warcraft movie. You can bet that it will focus on what has transpired in the world of warcraft universe, though.

My guess is they will invent some story that takes place after WC3 and in the wow universe and it will most likely just set up the two factions against each other with some rogue nemesis making it happen. Cause in warcraft none are ultimately bad except perhabs for the undead but really they just wanna be left alone. All villains have operated outside of the factions.
