It's the CPU overheating most likely. I had this, and that was the cause. <3

yup 50 is actually quite cool - but then again, who says your temp sensor is working properly?
i'd also check the northbridge temps. clean your cpu and gpu heatsinks and check the thermal paste.

i had a simmilar problem some time ago , with a 5900XT , it needid it's own power and after a couple of years or so it was faulty , kept freezing and shit , eventually i got it working buy not connecting it to power , leaving it only to recieve it's juice from the AGP port.
like i said , it did work , but games and other shit didnt really run , extremly low fps's , but it was enough to keep XP up and running without any issues.

Strange because when the proc overheats the thermal protection shuts off power immediately so there is no way the computer would 'hang' which it seems to be doing here. Also, in such a case restarting the computer immediately is a no go because the cpu is still at the cut-off temp. Only after it has cooled down sufficiently can it be restarted again. |
Yeah, I know, I even set it to shut down in the bios, but it never did. At first I thought it was the the PSU, and ended up replacing it, but no, it was the CPU. Buying a proper Zalman cooler did the trick.

You need to tell me what CPU you have, in order to find an appropriate fan.
Edit: Also, just to be sure, post all the specs and what PSU you have.

my CPU socket is 775, it's an e6750 @ 2.66 (stock frequency)
the PSU is a stock 500W, it's made by "advance" same brand as the case ( too cheap to buy a high end one)
ASUS nVIDIA8800GT 512GDDR3
1 x 80GB IDE HDD
1 x 160GB IDE HDD
1 x 400GB SATA HDD
1 x Samsung DVD RW+ SATA
4GB DDR2 RAM
ASUS P5K SE as a mobo
that's it I think

Hmm a 500W for 3 HDD, a C2D and a 8800GT is quite pushing it I think, especially when by some shit company (so it could in reality be a 475W, 450W or even a 400W PSU). :\ If you could somehow get a better PSU to check if that is the problem, it would be best.

OK, but still, Enermax is a a relatively good company, as opposed to shit companies that give little amperage to the different components.
Still, I think it's the CPU overheating. When PSU is insufficient, it usually shuts down or blows up (but if the voltages are dancing, it could lock and/or damage the components).

I opened the case and got rid of some dust that was accumulated, reorganized the cables so that there is more airflow going on and I reinstalled my GPU driver, so far I played some games for about an hour and it didn't crash, before it was crashing just seconds after a game is being played
I might have solved the problem but I guess we'll seeeeeeee

could you run a stress test on your ram and cpu seperatly? also try 7zipping a 4gb iso file etc , that usually triggers ram related issues like broken or too high OC for me.

If you have a sound loop then it is audio issue especially if you have Sound Blaster and EAX in the game enabled. Check out if the game uses EAX and be sure to select software not hardware option for sound.
If PSU is the problem then it would shut down entire computer. If GPU is the problem (overheating) then it would reboot your computer.

What a load of ...
Any motherboard or CPU triggered PC locks will also have audio loops, because data has been transmitted to the audio card.
