(It uses the same engine, there's a unpacker for DMC4/Lost Planet, unsure if it works on the RE5 benchmark though.)

BTW, is the SF4 engine related to that of DMC4/LP?

I think Capcom use the MT Framework engine for all their games right now.

75 FPS avarage in gameplay benchmark, DX10 mode, 1680x1050, 4xAA, 8xAF, settings maxed. Looks so much more fluid than console version (which runs at 30fps).

From a recent interview they said that while the MT Framework engine was good (Well they are the ones who developed it.) they choose to instead create a new engine for SF4 to suit that particular game better. Smile

Hmm, I've read that article, didn't remember about the engine. Thanks Wink

That particular scene is from the static benchmark where it shows one small area but with a lot of AI "zombies" (Or what they are) in it, game also has a "dynamic" benchmark where it shows several different scenes to better gauge performance. Smile

But yeah the screens are pretty badly done and it's a bit "bloomed" but I find that it looks quite OK.
(Unsure if Crossfire scales, haven't tested it but ATI doesn't have a driver profile for it, NVIDIA might as of the 190.38 driver just released though.)

(Disabling AA would push performance up quite a bit though, Edge Detect takes quite a hit as it's kinda like 12x samples at 4x AA or 24x samples at 8x AA but still delivers playable framerates in most titles, alongside Adaptive AA though performance starts to drop, looks good though, hehe.)

EDIT:

EDIT: Config.ini can be adjusted further if required. Smile

Capcom are among the few (along with Ubisoft) to be able to properly optimize their games for DX10. Smile

JB, performance is strange on your computer. Your avarage FPS is higher than mine (90 vs 75), but for me FPS never dropped below 60 in gameplay benchmark, and you had quiet a lot of dips below 60 in 3rd area.

You're right about that, this might be a bit of a long explanation but I'll try to explain what I think it's due to.

First of all I'm fairly certain this will improve over time once ATI gets a profile out for the game (Or rather it's EXE name.) but I don't expect it to happen in the 9.7 drivers due to how close they are to release

NVIDIA on the other hand might already have this, even more likely with the recent 190.38 drivers so it'll perform a bit better or regular or how to say it.
(Engine itself is a bit favorable on NVIDIA albeit raw power also works OK as seen with my framerate results when both cores starts working.)

Basically my ATI 4870X2 card is two 4870 cards on one PCB utilizing Crossfire to work together (Similar to the 295) and while a 4870 kinda matches a GTX 260 216 (To use your card as a example, it's fairly close though, in some titles it even competes against a 280 though for that you kinda need the improved core of the 4890) Crossfire is dependant on many other factors (So is SLI) so scaling might not be optimal in all situations.

For the initial screens the results from the usage of AA alongside Edge Detect and Adaptive AA (Transparency objects like grass, vegetation in general and stuff like lines and fences.) really hits performance so I lowered AA to 2x samples in the more recent ones but some scenes still prove very demanding, particularly when there's a lot of characters on the screen like at that first dip in the score during scene 1 or a large section of scene 3.

This also taxes other components as unfortunately my CPU gets a bit to do and thus communication between the various components stall a bit which affects Crossfire (And SLI) performance as well (My CPU was pretty good but I'll need to clock it a bit more, unfortunately it's not that good at higher speeds so instead I've increased FSB speeds and RAM latencies.)

Bit of a tech rant but it's basically Crossfire performance acting up due to currently rather irregular scaling further due to factors like CPU workload and that it kinda uses raw processing power to kinda force the delivery of high performance instead of a tailored profile to help it along (What crossfire mode to use mainly, stuff like that can be adjusted with NVIDIA hardware from utilities like nHancer but not for ATI.)

Somewhat bad explanation but it's hard to explain properly, still managed pretty well for a 4870 card. Very Happy
(That now and then scales with another 4870 card to form the X2 performance gains.)

That's actually a great idea, might be worth trying as you can launch the EXE's directly, still after running it some more I was fairly satisifed with this early look on performance (And the game itself of course.) so I uninstalled the benchmark, it's fun but it's not something you keep installed for long unless you're trying to push your score higher or compare against others. Smile

As for the game itself I'm kinda convinced that I'll like it though it seems even more of a action game than RE4 did, might be fun though it's recieved some mixed receptions both amongst reviews and general user opinions, it's not exactly like the older, slower RE titles. Smile

(I really need to finish RE4 someday, lost the save and I haven't really gotten far in my replay of it but I hope to pick it up soon, that said the story of RE5 seems to follow the stuff from RE4 loosely as it's another character and location though with the core RE stuff in it.)

I used FRAPS in trial mode, registered allows other screen formats and video options but I didn't need them (There are cracked versions of it though.) Smile

EVGA precision are used by some as well but I don't know much about it, might be other programs available as well. Smile
(Or running it windowed and using print screen, should work fine.)

EDIT: September 14th is mentioned in the article on the previous page.

Runs pretty well in my laptop.

But this game really needs a weapons sound mod after the release. Both MP5 and AK47 sounded like some dude was beating a sheet of paper with a stick. Laughing
