Has anyone seen this? The creators try to investigate whether the old civilisations could've been visited by aliens. I'm an ancient history nut and there's a lot we don't quite understand yet, so I found the first ep very interesting. While some of it is wishfull thinking, some intriguing points are made.

PS. the pic is not from the show itself.

so, it is a pre-astronautic theory like Erich van Däniken?

Always loved his shit, but he is also less then reliable to put it gently. The theory of aliens having visited makes a lot of sense though. What doesnt, is the fact, that apart from weird pictures and some logic arguments from scripture there is NO real evidence for visitations. Compare that to all the archeological evidence we have and it is astounding to not have any trinket or little thingamajig from those visitors.

is this essentially the documentary movie 'ancient aliens' stretched to a tv series?
cos that was reeeally reaching
just because we don't know 'how' doesn't automatically mean aliens - and underestimating the amount of damage religion does to human reason (like having a giant effort to build a pyramid or something)
it had many interesting points though.. the apparently precision machined prehistoric city especially
makes me wish spielberg would have done 'fate of atlantis' instead of the silliness they did

You don't have to believe in the theory to enjoy it. I saw most of the things I've seen in ep1 individually in the past, but seeing them in a single package is nice.

Om my fucking god, what a waste of time, how can you guys recommend this ?

First it was the wooden "plane", lol what bullshit, it's so obviously a bird depiction, it also has eyes ffs. I almost gave up at the "gold flyer" shit, some trinket looking like a jet, big whoop.

I finally gave up on the unfounded "vimanas must have been flying around the world because we found some levelled mountain and a city near it" part. Also, the flying carpet thing, lmao gtfo.

It gets better when they get to the piramids. I don't really care for the theory myself since it's mostly assumption, but seeing the old monuments again with their mysteries is nice.

Utterly amazing series. If it doesn't make you re-evaluate things about the history of humanity/civilization then you seriously need a brain-transplant. Very Happy

It s a good series if your unfamiliar with the subject...however, I havent seen anything 'new' u know?
Like wall know about every ancient culture refering to gods who flew around in eggs and shit
and the drawings and paintings etc

This is my question....if your an advanced alien race, why stop at earth, teach primitives how to build or whatever they did and leave no evidence of your efforts and never return...?

And by return, I mean land a fucking spaceship right beside the great pyramids or something that would be undeniable proof to even the biggest skeptic

Sorry the universe doesn't act in such obvious ways. There are always 'other' reasons for something not happening.

This series is so stupid its not even funny.

- "Woah!! Look at those old skulls they've found, they look like ALIEN skulls! EVIDENCE! ALIENS!"

- "Oh, there was some technique used in some cultures where they altered the shapes of their skulls, oh well.."

- "Ah, NOW we get it! They were VISITED by aliens and THAT'S why they altered their skulls to look exactly like THEIRS - because they worshiped them! EVIDENCE!!!! ALIENS!!!!"

- "Woah!! The pharaos heads looks strange in those old wall paintings (that absolutely is painted in a VERY photo realistic way with true-to-life proportions, like ALL other old wall paintings from this time period!!!) EVIDENCE!!!! ALIEN-HYBRIDS!!!!!!!!"

I mean WTF? How can anyone watch this shit? I can understand if you're 12-13 years old and are still developing a brain / common sense but man.. its so retarded :/

..a picture says more than a thousand words (or derp-smileys) though;

Is that a Star Trek pin he's got there btw, I bet it is...

For me the whole series got ruined because they push it waaaaaaay to far.

The theory itself.. that aliens may have visited earth in our history and religions sprouted from that... i find kinda believable.

@vurt: He is wearing a Mayan(I think) toy pin, in one episode they 3D scanned the toy and build a large scale model and it flew very well. They even tested it in air tube, and were fascinated that the toy was very aerodynamic.

Nevertheless, the series makes you think and re-evaluate things about our tenure on this planet. There are simply too many unexplained events and structures to discount them outright -- it seemed the ancients did things better on a great scale than we do even today.

Time for some thread digging Very Happy

Watching season 7 currently for my quick dosage of bullshit mixed with some historic/archeological facts, usually played in the background.

Anyone knows some good shows simmilar to this? Either semi-documentary or just plain fiction, stuff like alien contacting ancient cultures, creation of man by manipulating genes, various alien races influacing life on earth and so on, some thing in between this and lets say, prometheus (in the general concept/movie theme, not necessarily in the execution)
