"the acclaimed 3D match engine."
I had no idea it was acclaimed. I just wish to the footballing Gods that they improve the visuals in this year's match engine even if that means higher minimum system requirements. At least make it scale upwards more for those who want it to look better.

Gonna skip this years I think, getting too much now. 3 Yearly updates would be better, as each iteration don't seem to add much now.

I am going to skip it as well.
It sucks, since they won't make Fifa Manager anymore. They have no reason to make the game better at all.

People, who own the current FM game, should not pay full price for the new game - they simply do not add that much new content in the new versions. After all SI Games are not all about the money, right? ... right?
EDIT: not to mention that the new games are usually unplayable at least until the January patch...

I say this every year but still end up buying it again. Think I'm going to wait for a steam sale this time.

It should be a bi-annual release with a big data patch a year after release in an ideal world. That's why I never buy FM games annually. I do disagree that the price is high though. When I had time, FM games gave me hundreds of hours of fun. Compared to games of 10-20 hours costing the same, the price is very good.
As for the games being broken, I completely disagree. Apart from 2012 (?) in which defenders weren't pressing and thus leading to a huge amount of goals, I don't remember an FM game that was broken.

I'd love for them to take a year off to really add and fix things in the game and come out with something fresh. Sell a DLC that upgrades FM 14's databases etc for the 14/15 season for 10 bucks or something in the meantime.
Instead we will get a updated db and new bugs for $40

"Broken" is one thing, but annoying bugs, odd situations occurring etc is what I'm referring to. Like now with the players hitting the bar almost every game, sometimes multiple times; when you log hundreds of hours into a game you soon see the recurring errors in the simulation and the more you play the more you discover. Even this late in the cycle of FM2014 my assistant manager is broken as well in that he cannot schedule matches for the second team, I have to do it manually which sucks hard. Odd things like that which snowballs into big annoyances.
Yes, I remember the center backs not pressing properly, and the sliders in tactics not having an effect at all in player behavior patterns, and I feel that it is still broken. Of course you can't expect every player to listen to your orders, but still.

What I consider broken is when the ME cannot provide statistically realistic match outcomes. Like my team always having 40+ shots on goal, but the scoreline is almost always reasonable.
That just doesn't happen in real life. There are games like Celtic Barcelona in CL with hilarious stat lines, but not every single game.
For me it's just proof the match engine doesn't really work, it's all bandaided to make the results look somewhat realistic while the game itself is played in a ridiculous way with your team hitting the woodwork 15 times a game

I was always buying the game on release, but I just dont feel the cost is worth it to buy at full price anymore.
Instead I managed to get myself on a schedule of playing the game March to March of each year. The game is usually really cheap and fully patched and I know it will be a year of playing a career game until the next version.

That's hardly any proof since it all depends on your tactic. Set long shots to high on everyone, everyone will shoot from a distance. Make a tactic in which your striker is always alone between two defenders, the striker will always take the longshot etc. This will make the opposing keeper grow in the match and you'll hardly score any goals. How is that a bug?
There are so many 'bugs' debunked on the official forums. There are people there who have completely analysed the ME and know what they're talking about. I was addicted to the guides/analysis and whatnot during FM2012, most of the 'bugs' were just shitty tactics.

Blaming some players for not knowing how to play is okay, but to say they're all wrong is quite simply bullshit. I'm probably just a lousy player too then? No bugs in FM? Yeah. Nothing's ever wrong with these games. Haha. I'll wishful think my players not to hit the crossbar in the exact same manner over and over and I'll wish for my Assistant Manager to start doing his duties again.

Paraphrasing! Do you admit FM is full of bugs and there are no indications 2015 will be different? Stop trying to defend and marginalize the negative impact of constantly having to wait 2-6 months for it to be more enjoyable. Imagine playing a tested and quality assured FM from day 1.

Is that an opinion or did you analyse the bug ratio in the games? How did you conclude those were actual bugs with the ME/simulation and not just a result of your tactic and squad? I enjoyed every FM game, apart from the one with the pressing problem. Sure they had problems (show me a bugless game), but none I'd call broken.
I'm not defending the game. It's not relevant to me whether you enjoy the game and whether SI is awesome or not. I'm giving my opinion on the subject.

Regardless, the content in this years version (which has still to be announced) does not justify a whole new gaming cost, aka, those who loyally play the game and buy it every year.
They are now milking the series, probably more so, since there is no more direct competition, and can see that adding a few things here and there, gives them the right to release it under a new year heading, which is wrong IMO.
All these little changes, every year, could easily be added by way of a patch, because, after all, the core gameplay is just one big database, with a bolted on 'so called' 3D engine that never gets properly updated anyway.
As I said, I'll skip it this year
I still play FM 2010, and get a better game from that, than anything in past few years. Just a pity it ain't on Steam.

Well I certainly can see what he means. Having played FM14 for a bit the last few days you can clearly see the keepers seem superhuman at times, making impossible double saves (one side of goal to the other, think Superman ). Doesn't matter if it's a top class keeper or a lower league one, they seem to be as good as they need to be to keep that ball out no matter what. Not saying it is so, but it certainly feels like the game cannot cope if you manage to set up a tactic where you completely dominate and have a shitload of shots both off and on target. The AI only needs that one attack to get a goal though...
I remember it was said a few years ago they had to limit the amount of one on ones that was scored (cause you had a number of them every game), so they did add to the code that you cannot score any amount in order to keep it realistic. But all it ment was a massive wave of frustration from a bunch of players. Not so much a issue anymore I think though. But I feel it's about the same reason we have all these woodwork hits now, I mean it's so ridiculous amount I guess it's not even counted in the stats cause of it.
I too have gone the way of buying FM when it goes on sale. The game just isn't as worth it anymore I feel, not enough new and improved stuff. And there is like no competition for SI, hardly was and now there is none.

I absolutely agree. The game is scripted to make sure you can't dominate to the point where the score becomes unbelievable. IE. you'll never get 16-0. The highest I've ever gotten was 15-2 and that was with cheated players. You'll see time and time again chances go to waste despite having world-class (or in the case of my testing, maxed 20 )players. And by waste I mean stupid ones, one after another. IE. 1 on 1 situations, decided to shoot far outside of the box. Or teammates clearly open, decided to shoot from a tight angle, rather than crossing it low to the open striker.
With that said, I feel this only becomes a problem when RNG is not in your favour. When you could literally dominate every single team out there, getting 5+ goals every game, and still somehow can't score once against a mid table team with 60+ attempts / 20+ clear cuts, then lose to a counter attack. That is on the another end of the spectrum of unbelievable. It really feels like you got robbed by the game's logic and not the "nature of football".

Sounds like football manager live to me lol.
That was the conclusion we all had after playing it after a few years.
Players who had "elite" teams losing in a cup game against a noob player who only had piss poor players.
"Happens in real life to" they said lmao
