You can see where my palm rests, it's wearing away
$1800 Gigabyte laptop
2 months old
Not covered by warranty
Cheap fucking plastic shit. The keyboard also bends.
My wife's ASUS is even worse. I've had Macs for years that wouldn't do this. My brother still has my 2010 one which is immaculate. |
You bought a laptop that LOOKS like an iMac, go on and admit it.
Seems the top layer can't withstand the acids in your sweat - it's the same with my Razer Deathadder: the top surface has gone from silver to black and feels very very rough to the touch whereas the areas not touched by my sweaty palms are still very smooth. This is the first mouse of mine that does this yet it's also called a gaming mouse for "professional" gamers so you see, don't always believe what they say.
Oh and Gigabyte is not that good - poor service, mediocre hardware. You want quality? Go for ASUS.

Never happened to any MBP I've used or owned.
I think they use a solid metal alloy instead of some thin layer of dye.
Yes, yes I'm back.
Somewhat.

Well you shouldn't buy laptops with plastic casing, I thought this was universally known?

Does it look like shit? Sure! But that shit is durable

A lot of the manufacturers use cheap materials these days, really annoying the hell out of me. Takes more and more time to actually find quality stuff for a price that's not overpriced.

I agree, the old ones used bircks and steel. Those were the times.

4 y old MBA here. Would still look great if I cleaned it.
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

Had the same thing with my old Vaio. I had thought about finding some cool looking thick plastic sticker to put on it but the palm rest wasn't smooth. That's what I would suggest you do, find something to cover it.

My $900 Lenovo Y500 looks like new after a year (been on many trips with me) and plays Wash Doges @1080p on medium and Divinity on max.
Today I didn't even need to use my AK. I gotta say it was a good day. (c) - Ice Cube

It kinda makes you wonder though, if they made it so cheap on the outside, how's it inside... better buy a thinkpad next time |
And you've never had problems with video? It's D630's weakest point, mine died after 8 months and judging from Dell's and other forums it's really common. |
Aye, my fiancee's sister had a Dell die on her 2 weeks ago. I did some research and dear god there are a lot of problems with that.

When you've consumed all the plastic and you can't stand the ghetto look anymore, I can make you an offer that you can't refuse. Listen carefully Inter, this is a a one-time-only offer. An amazing one nonetheless.
Your cheaply designed and worn out wreckage for my astonishing Toshiba Satellite A300, with its shiny black high-quality plastic still in perfect condition after 6 years of intense usage, 3kg of fully functioning innovative hardware and a stylish look that will give you a +5 in Charisma when dealing with companies. This lovely beast is also designed for gaming: runs all the games released before 2005 without any issues whatsoever. The battery is optional, as in, you need to keep it plugged in all the time BUT, there are no additional fees or costs, they're on the house. So please, don't look any further, it would be foolish to say no!
