Actually this raises a good point; when a previously banned member is allowed to return, why not simply allow them back on the original account? It seems silly and a bit pointless to keep the "new" account rather than simply giving back the original Smile

Because it's an organic process. A member is banned, and returns and keeps low profile enough to not draw attention from the mods. By the time the banned member has "proven himself", he has already been here for months if not years. So, banning an new account and unbanning the old one, actually does disservice to the board, as not everyone knows the old account (in this case, who really remembers coflash, but they do know interin) and it disrupts conversations. The member will continue old conversations as if it is the newly banned account, but most people will not understand the transition. Now, if there was an account merger option, where the old banned account is merged into the new one, that would be a good option.
