Ahhh the Amstrad CPC 464, a great machine that did surprisingly well against the C64 and the ZX Spectrum. And today it's a day of celebration! Well at least if you had an Amstrad, as the old girl is 30 years today.

Absolutely adored my CPC! The machine was great and while I will always prefer the C64, I have many fond memories of the CPC .. I didn't have the green monitor though Very Happy

I haven't actually and I was just reading the article and didn't even know the CPC version of Dizzy was the only one that had in-game music! I was absolutely *certain* the C64 one did, in fact.. I'm still certain right now. I know I remember the Dizzy music like it was yesterday Neutral

Wow, yeah man.. my memory is busto, I could have sworn Dizzy had in-game music. Ah well - the rest of the series did at least \o/

@speedgear

Spectacular machine, one of my absolute favourites to this day, countless hours playing games like Tai-Pan with my stepfather or Fahrenheit 451 with my mum Very Happy

So much win! The CPC was a cracking machine, it really was, and look at that home port of Contra! Aside from the scrolling (which is odd as all the home computers were capable of great screen scrolling when handled properly, as you can see by Mr Heli a few seconds later) - the port looked incredible! Better than the C64 one - which isn't all that surprising considering how bad that port was Sad
