It's a project for school, so i put a lot of effort into it. Tell me what you all think.

P.S. It was optimized for 1024x768 resolution, since that was one of the requirements for the assignments. It might look kinda small on higher resolutions. Just thought i'd mention it if any 1337 people with 28 inch TFT's are wondering why it looks so small.

After the welcoming screen to Ems world, are you supposed to be sent onwards to the main site? I had to click the skip intro and frames(?) could be a lot bigger. I am on a 1450 x 900. And when you go to pics, and do click a pic, wouldnt you be able to just load the picture in the frame where you have the pictures and have a small botton for return to the photo index? In the Menu you have 4 tabs, but only 3 links.
Other than that it does look nice, polished, and quite cool. Good work,

The flash intro is a bit weak, isn't it? ... isn't there some way you could put some more life into it? And make more of an "oomph" to it, right now it's slow and pretty tedious (doesn't fill much of a function). I got a bit frustrated with it.

The text in the frames (why?!) is too dense, you seriously need some formatting, it's content perhaps is great, but you tire of reading after a few seconds.

Also, try to increase the contrast between the text and the background, it makes it even more easy to read.

I find the page pretty empty, and with no "personality" to it. It's a good first try, but it seems to lack something... feels as if you've done a rather hasty job in dreamweaver.

Pages such as this one don't really say much, do they? There are tons and tons of pages about Eminem on the internet.

I think contentwise you could've spiced it up by writing what he means to you, how he influenced YOUR life, what YOU see in his lyrics, etc. - that way the content isn't just random data you can find on ANY page.

Same goes for the images... when you create a page, you should think about audience... what does someone who visits this page get out of this? What will hold their attention?

It certainly isn't easy, but I think you could expand your original concept by thinking of this.

Yes, yes I'm back.
Somewhat.

First i have to say it looks okay.
Only 2 things id change.

id remove the non scrolling scrollbar at the far right of the screen. (only appears in IE).
And the right scrollbar in the frame is 2 cm off the right border, why is that?

Id make it 100% height instead of 600pix.Looks kinda weird to scroll when only half of screen is full. Dunno if this is one of the guidelines?

And btw at the basher?

In a situation of high unemployment and a recession of the economy, you should go for the non easy way.
Doing and learning things you already can is stupid, because it does not give you extra opportunities.
Maybe you are not a pro webdesigner, but who cares.
I dunno what you are studying, but i don't think you are specific studying for website designer? So the fact that you can build this is a very good advantage for you. Just try to make it a bit more 'tighter'.

But of course you have to follow the guidelines of the lesser mortals and inferior brains that have to waste their days giving the same lesson again and again and are demolishing young students' creativity with their own frustrations. They did not have internet in their days the way it was now, so they feel like it is their job to make you feel shitty doing some work, because they had to go through the shit themself. But in the end you can laugh at them. Smile

Only my view on schooling creative things in school. Why they give some stupid guidelines in making a website? You are young, making a not commercial website. Whats the point of breaking down any possible form of creative input?

anyway, just my thoughts.

Use the same CSS for the flash splash page as you do for the main site. The link in the bottom right corner looks out of place.

Also, I use 1024x768 and I think it looks too small.

1. Flash intro needs to be improved. As it stands, it's quite pointless. And of course, automatic redirect after it has played.

2. Too small. All of the information on the site is in such a tiny little box. Like it's been optimized for a 5 inch monitor. Why?

3. The bullet and the discography text are on different lines.

4. Year of one of the albums says 19997.

5. Not very much content, but if it's only an exercise in design for school that's not really an issue.

But it's better than I could do Wink

in the photo section i wouldnt use blue borders. take black or dark grey (darker then the background of the photo section)

maybe if you know how to do it you could make a sort of pop-up screen of the square where all your information is in

you need a skip intro button

the background is pretty bad, use something with the same grey of the center or a bit dark or you could use a desktop wallpaper from eminem and since it has to be for 1024x768 you can have no problem with finding a large enough wallpaper

dunno... mayny things and then again not so many...

I hope comps aint your major

seriously:

- intro, not good and should open the main page after the intro is finish
-main page kind of empty
- those thumnails should open as pop-up screens (same size as the picture, no
- scrolling bars etc.)- not whole new page imo
- bg is good, colors are ok, eminem title pic is good

so much same as others - make the main table (frames - not good) bigger - fill the empty space + at least fix the intro and autoloading after the intro

When you are ment to click to go from intro to site, dont make the text clickable, rather drag a box, and re werite the actionscript to the box, rahter than the text.

Some things you could improve:
Get rid of the intro. Its not needed atall. Flash is good, for full sites Smile

ALso the box the site is in is very small, stretch it a bit, add some life to it, perhaps, recode it in flash.

Nice site.

My personal notes:

1. Strings fade delay (intro) is too slow, forcing a visitor to perceive your website a little lubberly at the beginning (the first impression is the most important).

2. You operate on 3 strings but the second one appears in the middle of the screen while the last one in the bottom (the last one usually should appear in the main point, e.g. centre of the field/screen to focus visitor attraction). Also two of them are static while the last one is moving (using diagonal direction - unprofessional, reminds me PowerPoint). All strings should follow similar behaviour which means:

a) all move, or
b) all stand, or
c) two stand and the last one moves in Z direction only (not X/Y),
d) two moves but in Z direction only, the last stays (fades only).

3. While you use FLASH intro it would be good to replace "skippa intro" blue text with small, soft gray bitmap button. Can be also green-gray because you should choose only one of the main colors elements (closest to white). Because FLASH operates on white only, you should avoid separate usage of RGB colors (being focused on gray dominance).

4. The main frame, after entering the site, is too small. It should be optimized for 800x600 or, at least, 640x480.

5. "Biografi" text is unformatted thus really unreadable.

6. Pictures in "Bilder" menu are vertically extended - unadmisable thing. Also you do not use miniatures but compose them from "ready" pictures. That significantly extends loading time and will result in incomplete miniatures on connections <=128kbit.

7. In kontakt menu your email address isn't clickable.

8. As Eminem fan you could consider adding news and links sections while fans prefer to find "all about". Also you could share the links with others and promote your site.

9. In fan type websites a good tradition is a guest-book.

Don't get me wrong, just my personal feelings.

Good luck.
