Both campaign scenarios: "First Steps" and "New Hope" work for me.

And after a couple missions it tells you about the alpha campaign which you can't follow I assume unless you're signed in.
This is just the "Demo" campaign.
As far as I know they didn't actually crack anything from the looks of it. It looks like it was made to run without being purchased as you have to login to actually get your content.

This trailer is based on a real game of about 12 hours. The map has been extended and polished in the in-game map editor. All the actions, movement and logic in general in the trailer are controlled by the game native modding system (lua scripting).

new trailer but still no proper greenlight page Sad

Anyone know what kind of drm this uses? The game seems awesome but I can't find any info on the drm anywhere on their site. Always like to know that before buying.

I bought it and there seems to be no DRM, at least right now..

There is an optional update check which you can enable and to which you need to log in, but that is about it.
However this might change with their next release when the multiplayer comes.

Not a fan of all the ores being available on the surface, this game could've been so much better with underground mining, shaft design etc.

Wanted to say picked this game up a week ago.. already had a few 3am "god damn you employment" sessions. Also read on their forums they plan on implementing multiplayer and had also mentioned underground building and mining (Hidden Ores), they were unreached stretch goals on indiegogo :/.

Would be a shame if this game fizzled out as even in alpha it has better gameplay than a lot of titles in similar genre.

overview of game and planned features can be viewed here:

I don't think it will fizzle out not anytime soon anyway as they recently had a massive influx in sales. They had only sold something like 10k copies up until about a month ago. Then a big youtuber who plays a lot of RTS type games showed it on his channel and the sales exploded. Crashed there servers etc lol. Then notch tweeted that someone in his office was playing it and it looked awesome, the sales exploded again Razz

The devs have said that it brought new life to the development so hopefully those stretch goals that were missed will now be worked on.

No Greenlight
So there will be no Steam Greenlight. We were in touch with one of the Valve employees and they made us an offer to enter Steam directly without going through the Greenlight process. This is something that we will gladly do because that means less things to worry about (we have quite some of that already).

Speaking about Steam. We have drawn quite good inspiration from community forum discussions following past Friday Facts episodes. Namely the ones regarding when to enter Steam and how to promote the game . So as for entering the Steam, we have settled to aim for January 2016. As usual this is a plan and plans can change (especially when it comes to Factorio release announcements=)).

[Gameplay preview
Regarding game promotion, we have decided to give it a shot and create a gameplay footage / preview video. Basically it would be a short (less than 2 minutes) video that shows basic game mechanics and how the game is played. If the trailer gives a taste of Factorio (and it is a first video we expect potential player to see) this gameplay preview should be the 2nd video and it will give him a "glimpse on the menu". At the moment we are in the planning stage but we will make sure to keep you up updated.

Also we are getting in touch with some professional (Indie) game promoters to see if we could work together and give more shine to Factorio Steam release. If you have more recommendations regarding our planned Steam launch please share them (ideally on the forums). It is a great source of inspiration for us.

Finally on steam Wink

http://store.steampowered.com/app/427520/
Earlly Access Date: 25 Feb, 2016
Quote:
Why Early Access?
“We have been working on Factorio for over 4 years. The game is very stable and is highly optimised for prolonged gameplay and creating huge factories. We have sold over 110,000 copies on our website, and we feel now is the right time to release to a wider audience.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?
“The game has a very strong content base, rich with interesting mechanics and features. Many players report they are still having fun on their maps even after hundreds of hours of gameplay, alongside multiplayer support, and a dedicated modding community.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?
“In the full version we hope to have a polished GUI, a multiplayer matching server, integration of mods for players and servers, and a number of other finishing touches and additions to the core gameplay.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?
“Our plans for release come as part of a ongoing process, and we are constantly adding new features and content. When we feel the game is complete we will release the full version, and our current estimate is that this will take 8-12 months.”

The sales of Factorio went pretty well, and we probably can't talk about exact numbers due to the legal agreement with steam. I believe I can say that we sold slightly more during this week on steam, than during the whole last year on our page, which is overwhelming. This obviously makes us think about the future.
