On Tuesday during COMPUTEX 2014 in Taipei, Philips Monitors announced that it won the show's d&i Gold Award for the world's first "virtually" seamless Two-in-One Monitor (model 19DP6QJNS). This setup combines two 19-inch IPS screens mounted on a single "space-saving" base, thus creating one nearly-seamless 38-inch panoramic display.

According to the company, both screens have a 3.5 mm narrow border and can tilt forward and backward up to 22.5 degrees. Also included are two USB ports on each panel, one DisplayPort and VGA input on the first panel, and one VGA input and one MHL-enabled HDMI port on the second panel. MHL means Mobile High-Definition Link, and will charge an MHL-compatible device while its digital audio and video are sent to the big screen. Think of MHL as three lanes (power, video, audio) rather than the standard two in HDMI.

Coooool.. and the angle between the two screens can be adjusted from 0 degrees to 22.5 degrees.

Here's hoping for Samsungs new curved technology to come to monitors.. Imagine a normal high quality 24" IPS with double width and curved....

...in a monitor format with a sharper curve due to sitting closer to the screen.

I'm actually skeptical about curved tv's since you have to sit very close to the center to get the view. I wouldn't mind personally, I've got an expensive armchair with a controller to lean back and raise a legrest... Smile

I dont like that, I liked the dual aspect. As you say curved TV must drastically narrow the viewing area

Yeah, as a TV you have to sit in a very narrow viewing angle from the TV to get the best, but as a computer monitor it's perfect with a curved WIDE IPS screen since you sit right smack in front of it. Much better immersion. Of course, Samsung is playing around with bendable screens where you can go from straight to curved screen as you wish. That's the perfect (and most likely Wall Street-expensive) product.

Curved screens have meaning in theaters where the screen is massive, so when you watch 3D (IMAX especially), wherever you sit, you'll have the feeling of viewing from the center, with TV it really makes little difference as the curve isn't that big...

Are there joined 3-in-1 without separating bezels out there?

And "most people"? Most people I know have a maximum of two screens for their PC, three monitors take up too much space and you don't really see more than ~30% of the side-screens anyway.
