I've had similar experiences and I suspect it comes from Cannabis use.
Insomnia is really bad for memory aswell. Maybe you should try some valerian (Baldrian in german) tea before sleeping for a few weeks and see if it gets better. It really helps.
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

Every time I get really stressed for a long while I tend to forget half of what is going on during a day. Where I put stuff and so on. I think it's quite a normal side effect of to much work( together with insomnia).

is the lack of sleep bub
i sleep very little and have mem issues
at work i walk around with a notepad and make lists
it helps
work on strengthening your memory muscles when youre all alzheimer-like
and knowing that you forgot something isn't forgetting it
its just that you deemed it unimportant enough to give a fuck about

Sleep well, eat well and excercise!
(just happen to be 3 things I'm bad at at this moment in life )

I think it ain't the alcohol since I don't drink as much anymore, usually just once a week now. And I don't really smoke pot (maybe once every six months or so).
And it's not just that I forget things and know about it (like Waldo said), the real problem is when people remind me of something I had absolutely forgotten... Sometimes I even set alarms on my phone for a few days in advance, and when they come up I realize I had zero memory about it.
Thanks for the advice though, I need to fix my sleep and workout more.

You can add me to the club. Stress and insomnia really do that to your body, sadly. I've been experiencing it on daily basis since months now (and I've basically almost stopped drinking alcohol - except for a beer or two from time to time)..so it has to be that.
Ironically though, I always remember the most trivial things (like everything entertaining-related, games/movies and such) forgetting the 'most important' stuff (work/life-related). My brain apparently has different priorities, and how can I blame it xD
Could also be that we're in our ~30s! Getting old...

Yup, longtime member of the club here. My memory gets worse by the day and I often forget things that happen recently - my family has a history of Alzheimer's and I had some trouble when I was younger that screwed up my memory quite a bit too, so yeah.. not a fun situation.
