|
 |
Friend of mine her laptop ( that i havent seen in person yet ) is being very slow for the past week.
I assume its the HD that slows everything down cause i gave her my USB stick with 1080p movies that played smoothly when played from USB, when she copied them to the HD the movies would stutter and skip often.
Any tips before i go to her place? wondering if there are monitor programs to see what is accessing the HD and how much.

you can get graphs via the extended taskmanager,i don`t remember if you can see what process/exe is causing the heavy load but i think you can.
my mother had a semi related problem with her win 8.1 laptop, couldn`t watch anything streamed or copied to hd because of freaking avira antivir, maybe same issue (yeah,right...)

Now, I don't know what hardware costs in Poland, I guess it's cheaper because everything is stolen from Germany and resold... |

Full of usual laptop pre-installed bloat, get rid of that shit, wipe drive and install Win 8.1 yourself, and you will see its a difference between night & day
Also, 'power saving settings' on a laptop will be interfering with video playback on some devices, you can be sure of that, I'll lay my money down now as a bet
Without the laptop specs though, its kinda hard to give an exact judgement, but I'll still bet you the two I've mentioned will be part, if not most, of the cause

Run a HD test. Seatools is a free one. Might be going bad. And go into resource monitor and see if your HD activity is going crazy or what.
