Mobile app emulation isn’t always an easy task, BlackBerry devices have been known to run some Android apps but emulating Windows Phone or iOS apps inside Android has been mostly unheard of until now. A team of students have successfully managed to emulate native iOS apps on Google’s mobile OS, although they don’t run smoothly yet.
Six Columbia University students created software called Cider (presumably named after the Cider wrapper found in OSX), the Android version of Cider makes native iOS apps think that they are running on a legitimate Apple device, which then allows them to run.

Impressive. What I want to know is where the hell is the desktop/WinPC iOS emulator/wrapper? We have Bluestacks (and various other VMs such as AndroVM) for Android apps, but nothing for iOS Sad

Android is open, iOS is not. iOS won't boot from an unsigned boot loader (gross oversimplification but in that general idea) while with Android you can build a package that would boot from an ARM simulator.

And what do you expect to achieve from that iOS emulator? As the Android emulator (from Google) proves, x86_64 <-> ARM is terrible at performance. Newer iOS devices have very meticulously designed ARM chips which would be nigh on impossible to emulate. There is the simulator, which is fantastic (fuck you Derpoogle for not providing a simulator!), but that's x86_64, so you need that code instead of ARM. When iOS devices finally start using x86_64, you will see an "unlocked" simulator. But until then, an emulator is useless.

This one has the potential to work, as ARMx <-> ARMy could be more compatible, but I would say not so much, especially with Apple's 64bit architecture. Why are they emulating iOS6? Likely that iOS7 is very taxing and would be much more taxing on most Android devices.
