Especially that it's more of a family drama from the book description.

Very "strange" concept for a HBO show, I expected this to belong to Syfy Razz

Also who is this Lindelof that you speak of, I've never heard of him before Cool Face

This sounds dreadfully boring. So what is going to happen? a normal show just that they keep talking about 2% of the population disappearing?

Noticed something was wrong on that synopsis, here's the correct one:

Quote:
When 2% of the world's white population abruptly disappears without explanation, the world struggles to understand just what they're supposed to do about it. The new drama series 'The Leftovers' is the story of the people who didn't make the cut.

Based on the bestselling novel by Tom Perrotta, 'The Leftovers' follows Kevin Garvey, a father of two and the chief of police in a small New York suburb, as he tries to maintain some semblance of normalcy when the notion no longer applies. The series is executive produced by 'Lost' co-creator Damon Lindelof, together with Perrotta and 'Friday Night Lights' executive producers Peter Berg and Sarah Aubrey. Lindelof serves as the series showrunner. The show debuts on June 15th.

So i read the book yesterday/today and it is pretty much what i already said. Its just focusing on how the ppl deal with this event and the aftermath. Fucking pure drama and boredom, awaits us, if they stick to the book...

If the book didn't have tits and swearing in it, then its a safe bet that HBO will not be following it exactly.

well , there are some sex scenes and swearing, nothing much or fancy though, but since its HBO , it will be getting pushed to max.

EDIT: Just hope they flush out the story a bit, the book was utterly boring.

The reviews for this are really good. Looking forward to it a lot more now!

Quote:
Hitfix says:

... Maybe [Lindelof] saw the opportunity in "The Leftovers" to make something great. Because he sure as hell has. … I believe in "The Leftovers." And I want to see more of it. Now.

HuffPost TV says:

... I kept going, and I will continue to do so. "The Leftovers" is somber and often sad, yet it's also sincere and willing to ask the big questions. "The Leftovers" is interesting television, even if, in the early going, it's not quite sure of what it wants to be or where it wants to go. …

The New York Times says:

... As with any good drama, the mystery lies in human nature more than in the supernatural. Once the show gets going, and it takes more than one episode to do so, “The Leftovers” bores into the characters and the fissures that crack their community so astutely that the cause is almost secondary. …

The Los Angeles Times says:

... Tonally ambitious and tantalizingly opaque, "The Leftovers" takes the universal trauma of loss and launches it globally. What is it we mourn, exactly, and where will that mourning lead us?

The Chicago Sun-Times says:

... An intriguing study in how regular Joes react to inexplicable events …

The Washington Post says:

... the show delivers on an exceedingly intriguing premise, with some of the most beguilingly morose performances delivered this year. It’s a strange but good wallow. …
