It is described as a fun action drama that unites iconic TV stars as a new team of highly-skilled heroes who are on a mission to stop a dangerous terrorist.

Fox is developing The Expendables, an event series based on the movies, with the franchise’s writer and star Stallone executive producing alongside the films’ producer Avi Lerner and NCIS veteran Shane Brennan who serves as showrunner.

There is no cast attached or approached yet but the producers have plenty of beloved TV action stars to choose from: Walker Texas Ranger‘s Chuck Norris, who already is part of The Expendables feature franchise, 24‘s Kiefer Sutherland, Magnum P.I.’s Tom Selleck, Xena‘s Lucy Lawless, Quantum Leap‘s Scott Bakula, Alias‘ Jennifer Garner, A-Team‘s Mr. T and Strike Back‘s Sullivan Stapleton and Philip Winchester, just to name a few.

I want a more "Jagged Alliance" esque (video game) based TV show, I'd watch the shit out of that. Meaning mercs and enemies with even more fun and extreme personalities than this. Also get some more young people involved, preferably hot women.

Haha Very Happy
But seriously, I somewhat enjoyed (well, tolerated) the movies mainly because they were based on the nostalgia factor with all the stars from my childhood. I'm afraid this one is only going to be a meaningless pew with no reason to exist. Okay

I don't like people made fun of for their age, we're all headed the same way they are. That said, The Expendables with a more unknown, younger/crazier cast would be a lot of fun. Like I said earlier with the Jagged Alliance game, part of the fun was reading about the various pros/cons/weirdness to the mercs you could hire. Smile

These actors make fun of themselves by refusing to acknowledge that there is a place and time for certain roles and playing them again and again guns blazing looks only stupid and embarrassing. And having morons writing screenplays doesn't help either. Laughing
Of course, there might be a simple explanation for this behavior. They play same old same old roles again and again coz they (with a few rare exceptions) are mediocre actors lol

True, but in their 'primes' they defined big action movies. Oh, and you couldn't have found a better person to play Conan or a Terminator than Arnold, brilliant casting. Shouldn't be doing more of them though but yeah, like with the Expendables, in Terminator he's getting too old to look the part.

I haven't seen Expendables 3 but first two were pretty good action movies. Not overly serious in tone and actors were very conscious of the fact they're basicly grandpas doing sommersaults and running with M16s. Both movies were just giant winks to the audience - just remember Norris' scene in the sequel Laughing . So yeah, I'm pretty sure these guys DO acknowledge their age. They just decided to make fun of it instead of going all cane'y and elderly. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that, as far as I'm concerned - especially since so many people seem to enjoy what they made.

Well, yes. That was the point. However, it gets old real fast especially when writing gets worse with each new film released.+ pg13. The problem is it's not fun anymore.Maybe to them it still is, but not to me. Laughing
