http://www.deadline.com/2014/03/ghostbusters-movie-going-forward-without-ivan-reitman-sony/#more-701057

Quote:
Sony Pictures is eyeing an early 2015 production start in New York on its next installment of Ghostbusters. There is a major change, though. In the wake of the death of his close friend and original Ghostbuster Harold Ramis, Ivan Reitman has decided he won’t direct the film, after all. Instead, Reitman will help Amy Pascal find a new director to take over what everyone hopes will reboot what the studio considers to be one of its most important franchises.

Quote:
“It’s a version of Ghostbusters that has the originals in a very minor role,” he said.

Quote:
Reitman said they are already working on a short list of directors they’ll go out to, and then it will be time to find the new cast. “I’m not going to say how many Ghostbusters there will be in the new cast, but we are determined to retain the spirit of the original film, and I am pleased that all of this seems to have happened organically,” he said. “I’m hoping we can get started by the fall, set in New York, but given the logistics and the stuff that happens, the beginning of 2015 seems more likely.”

TWIN PEAKS is "something of a miracle."
"...like nothing else on television."
"a phenomenon."
"A tangled tale of sex, violence, power, junk food..."
"Like Nothing On Earth"

Actually I know the only way it can be fucking awesome AND in the spirit of the original film: they should take the entire The Big Bang Theory cast as new GB team. They'd fit perfectly. But alas they'll make 'a new generation' with youngsters and dubstep Sad

Sure, Channing Tatum as the new Dr. Peter Venkman, Taylor Lautner as the new Egon, Kellen Lulz as the new Dr. Raymond Stantz, Ice Cube as the new Winston Zeddmore(gotta have a rapper play the token black guy yo) and of course Kirsten Stewart/Megan Fox/some other bimbo as the new Dana.

Oh and of course Kevin Hart as the Louis Tully type character.

Derp enough for you? Laughing

make it formulaic and by the books, add strong female characters, transform the team into young arrogant geniuses, a new supermodern Ecto-1 with high tech gadgets and product placement, same artificial look as all other superhero movies, shaky cam and lens flares, pointless short cameos by unenthusiastic original cast, and probably directed by JJ Abrams again Laughing
but still its gonna get 8.1 on imdb and everyone will praise how the modern transition worked out so well

I've seen enough reboos and "modern reimaginations" to know where this is going. Years ago I would have given this the benefit of the doubt, but now..the 99% of my hope for a good movie is lost. (there's still that 1% left though...Razz)

And Hill always plays a fat guy that took amphetamine for the first time.
But I could see TBBT male cast in it.

Paul Feig, director of Bridesmaids and The Heat, has emerged as the frontrunner, according to sources, and Feig has shown interest in taking on the project. Sources caution that no formal negotiations have taken place and a lot must be worked out before the casual discussions turn serious and Feig accepts the job. But he is the studio's first choice, these sources said. Sony declined to comment.

Sources say the film will be a reboot focusing on female Ghostbusters.
