I actually own a reaaaally old Matrox External HDD of 500GB , with Wii ISOs and PS3 Backups.Obviously,it's FAT32

I was thinking of buying a new, slimmer and no AC Adaptor/Cable , external HDD of 1TB to upgrade it into the modern era. The WD My Passport Ultra (Blue!) 1TB

The question is:

-If i copy the entire contents of the ol' HDD like they're shown in the root to the new Slim HDD, will there be no differences/problems whenever i connect the new HDD to the Wii (ISO Loader) and PS3 (and PS4) to get it detected? (Ofcourse, previously formatted to FAT32)

-Is it SAFE to make a Partition to them?..One for FAT32 and the other for NTFS content

Thanks in advance...and please, NO TROLLING.

There will be no issues from doing a straight copy over if you're using the same file system, the only time you'd have issues was if you were using WBFS for the Wii, but since it's FAT32 then you're good to go. Partitioning FAT32 and NTFS won't be a problem either Smile

I tried ,with still the old 500GB hdd, to repartitionate the J: partition (the one with the wii games) with Partition Magic 8.0 but under Windows 7 64bits... No matter what i do the bitch won't redimensionate because Windows detects like there's nothing in it (yet with the Wii Backup Manager it obviously detects it) and wlel, PM8 won't start anymore (gives 2 errors and if i press no Twice it autocloses...i guess these errors are related to my Samsung EVO 840 250GB SSD and i prefer not to messs with it

Any newer and better alternative for PM8 but for Windows 7,please?..i don't wanna deal with more errors etc

Thanks in advance

Are you absolutely CERTAIN that the Wii partition is FAT32 and not WBFS? I have a hunch that your Wii partition is WBFS after all and that means the Wii can see it by PC cannot. To get access to that, you'll have to install WBFS tools such as WBFS Manager, then copy over the ISOs and do it all manually. I don't think there are any apps/tools to natively mount the WBFS partition in Windows. As for PM8? I wouldn't know, my tools of choice always come from Acronis or EASEUS, in this case; EASESUS Partition Master. It hasn't failed me yet Smile

It's WBFS,last time i checked today using the wii manager thingy i mentioned (wich detected the partition and the games in it).

The J: Partition wher the Wii games are transfered and ready to play appears on Computer, but if i click it Windows 7 says it's not formatted and if i wish to do so (wich i said no)

I'll check that later (the partition program)

I still have the original Wii Games' ISOs in another external unit as a backup. Would it be ok to format the J: drive, redimensionate it then re-format it to WBFS or something then put the ISOs in it or..?

That's why Windows can't read it, WBFS isn't a partition recognised by anything other than the Wii - until you use tools like WBFS Manager. If you have the ISOs already then yes, you can wipe the partition but why? You're moving to a 1TB drive right? Just backup the contents of this one to the new one, wipe this, deal with the new one alone Smile Make a FAT32 partition on the new one and give it a size you want, leave the rest blank/unpartitioned and then use WBFS Manager to partition it and copy over your Wii ISOs again.

Simple Smile

Thanks. Still i am thinking about the moving...It's not Wii (wich, sadly,i barely touch anymore), but more for PS3 backups and my PS4 too... But i guess i might get a tiny pendrive (my DIABLO 3 one isn't recognized on my PS3/4,even if it's FAT32) of 4/8GB and that's it =.=;...

Thanks for the help anyways. Maybe what i'll do is,one day (one day far far away) to play n finish the still not seriously started games on the Wii then once done...kick them away or format whatever.

Sorry for the waste of time, i mean it.

It's no waste, it's all easily done Smile Just format your new 1TB, create a FAT32 partition and leave the rest unformatted, use WBFS Manager to create that partition, install your Wii ISOs to WBFS, copy over your PS3 backups to FAT32 = done! Smile
