Fractured Soul - the multi award winning platform game on 3DS - is coming to Steam (we hope)! The game has received over 50 review scores of 80% or better since launching on 3DS a few months ago, and now we’d like to take all the feedback from fans - both old and new - and incorporate those ideas into a Steam version.
Just another “retro style platformer... with a twist”?
Fractured Soul has its gameplay heavily inspired by classic series that we ourselves grew up loving, and it is most often compared with Mega Man - GamingTruth says it “feels a lot like Mega Man” (9/10). Like so many other indie platform games these days, it’s a “retro style platformer...with a twist!” We’d like to think our duality game mechanic is more than a silly marketing gimmick, though, and Game Chronicles said it “has changed the way I will look at the genre for some time” (4 stars). The Fractured Soul universe operates in two dimensions, and you are equipped with the ability to change dimensions at any time by tapping a button. Switch dimensions to avoid enemy fire, sneak around enemies, and reach seemingly unreachable locations.
Features
Over 30 levels of action-packed dimension switching. Around 8 hours of content, depending of course on your platforming skill level!
Shmup sections too. That’s right, there’s some “bullet hell” levels thrown in for good measure - and of course, they’re played in two dimensions as well.
5 distinct worlds. In each world, something very unique is happening in one of the two dimensions. For example, you may be submerged under water in one dimension, with your movement slowed but your jump height extended, yet in the other dimension everything is normal. You’ll need to extract the best of both dimensions to survive! Later on in the game, you’ll find yourself in one dimension with its gravity inverted, that’s when things really get challenging...
Online rankings. Speedrunners can upload their times to the online leaderboards to compete for the fastest time through each level. There are 2 categories - the best 5 star times and the best times without achieving 5 stars.
Bonus content. Unlockable super challenge levels. Only for the bravest of fractured souls.
PC Exclusive Features
An “easy” mode to help folks get into the game more easily. It’s no secret that Fractured Soul’s default difficulty is incredibly challenging. Joystiq summed it up like this: “This game is Mega Man Hard.” We won’t remove the default mode, because a lot of people like that challenge, but we’ll add an easy mode too.
Gamepad support. Of course. (Already done).
Silky smooth 60 FPS. (Already done).
Graphical enhancements.
Signature/Avatar nuking: none (can be changed in your profile)
