Fallen Enchantress is set in the fantasy world of Elemental, a realm filled with magic and ancient lore. You are one of the few beings capable of channeling magic from the various shards of power that are scattered across the world. As such, the people look to you for leadership to spread your civilization across the land. As the ruler of your kingdom, you must expand your empire through a combination of magical power, military might, diplomatic skill, technological advancement and bold adventuring. Your worlds will be of your choosing, or players are free to create their own. Through the course of the game, you will research new technologies, learn new magical spells, raise armies, negotiate treaties, fight wars and go on quests as your people struggle for domination of the world.
Recruit Champions – Equip them with rare magical items that you create or discover. Customize your champion’s special abilities and traits as they gain levels.
Fight in tactical battles – Battle enemy armies or the wild creatures of the world. Command your armies directly and choose between the special attacks and spells your units have learned.
Design your units – Customize their armor and weapons. Equip units with mounts to quickly close on enemy units. Train them with specialized traits like Discipline and Ignore Pain.
Liberate or Enslave – Transform Elemental into a noble kingdom, or an empire where citizens are fuel for your spells. Build studies and workshops to make your citizens more productive, or gallows and sacrificial altars to keep your citizens motivated.
Explore Wildland Areas – Be cautious when entering these areas; they offer their own rewards and treasures, but you will need high-level champions, advanced armies and powerful spells to survive.
Build your own world – Use the included modding tools to create new improvements, locations, quests or factions. Design new spells in the Particle Cauldron and entire worlds with the Cartographer’s Table.

Pretty cool game... by the way if anyone owns Elemental: War of Magic, and actually registered it by Dec, 31, 2010... can get Fallen Enchantress for free.
In life, ones success is not determined by their wealth, but by how many attend their funeral..
Well, I've only played it a few hours total (in beta). From the full version, it looks pretty stable and polished compared to earlier versions. Too early to tell, really.
That said, it feels like a much, much better game than WoM - and it really does seem to have that wonderful quirky charm that's a part of the best in the genre. It reminds me quite a bit of games like MoM, Majesty, Warlords and the early HoMMs. That sort of... innocent fantasy charm. Know what I mean?

would kill for warlords sequel, remake
Indeed. I loved Warlords 3 - DLR the most - but Warlords 4 pretty much killed it for good.
I bought this game in february. Played the Beta 93 hours. I am playing it right now. Last game which i played this much was Skyrim, before that Company of heroes
Just want to tell, it is a very addictive game. It is like civilization in fantasy world + Rpg elements. The "just one more turn" effect is there. We got full modding tools (map editor, tile editor, civilization editor, particle editor) I hope, there will be so much content, even total conversion. (alpha centaury mod anyone?)
Just try it, then by it, the developers deserve this.
Is this a game someone who likes HOMM, Civ and similar turn based games would like? I know nothing about it but it looks kinda similar to HOMM series. Also, is it complex more like Civ or simpler like Warlock?

Most likely, yes, someone like that would like this.
I'd say it's similar in complexity to Civ. Pretty close to Master of Magic, actually.
Very similar to Elemental but still a bit better (would be weird if it would not be after 2+ years)
Think i will try this for some more hours, i hope the balance is good, that's what i can see as problematic because of all of the ways you can play this game it might be hard to keep it balanced. But i will give it a try.
I played roughly an hour, and damn I love this game. I haven't seen any bugs, its like civ warlords heroes age of wonders master og magic, and you name it!
yesyesyesyessssssssssssss
That said the graphic is odd, I don't particulary like the style, but it matters little. Also the factions seems boring, I had a hard time choosing any, because they alt felt meh. Oh they are different allright, they just lacked flavour I guess you would call it.

This is what Elemental was supposed to be, all the performance issues I had with the original are gone, the UI is years ahead the last one, the graphics are still unique and the cloth map you see when you zoom out is just beautiful.
I only played 3-4 hours on a large map and I didn't see much of the AI so I can't comment much on that but the first impressions I got from playing are very positive, there is a huge amount of potential now that the biggest flaws of the original game are gone.
3-4 hours and you didn't see much of the ai? Whaaaat? I'm getting my ass handed, over and over againafter about 1-2 hours into the game. On normal large map.
I play as that forest freedom team, and everytime, the evil melee team crushes me! And every game I figure out a new feauture. They expand so faaaast.
Just won my first battle on my new started game, I think I might survive longer this time \o/
I'm surprised about the lack of buzz for this game, sure the first game may have destroyed a lot of their reputation. But this game is GOOD, and games in this genre is not exactly common, so this is something I think we need even. Oh and the modding potential is huge.

That's true. Yet this year we got two games from the genre (Warlock:MotA and Fallen Enchantress). Which is quite uncommon.
