Sup guys. FINALLY, my sister moved away with her boyfriend to another city and I finally have a room for myself only. Already there are still some of her things left but it will all be gone soon. For now, i got rid of mine and her folding beds and got one huge ass couch for me and my gf to sit/sleep on.

Fortunatley(or not) my sister left this TV. its 2008 32LG6000 "hdready" tv. Its only 1366x768 or something stupid like that. it is 16:9 tho.

So I went ahead and got 3m hdmi cable with sound and It works. I have it set as extended to TV native res (it is not fullscreen tv when I set to 1080p).

I can move things on that TV and it all works ok. not sure about black levels tv vs pc tho. I think its ok. Sound also works and its coming from a TV as I would like when watching movie on it. But have no idea how to quickly switch between sound tv or pc.

If anyone have helpfull ideas please do say.
This is how it all looks

my 7870 only have hdmi, dvi(pc) and display shit unavailable to buy cables port

also, my question is... do I need a better TV ?

edit: btw. octodad on a couch with gf and randomized limbs control is fucking great Laughing

yep.. For waaaay to long. I am 24 and she is 27. Just week ago she finally moved on.
It is now time for me to also move on but I am doing master degree for 2 more years so I will still live with my parents becaue most of my salary is for paying university... Not that I and my gf have money to buy our own flat or anything even without paying school. Fuck this country. Its so hard for people like me or just Young couples to live on their own and to even strat.

Tell me about it. I was fortunate enough, my gf and I live in one of my grandparents apartments, which is pretty shitty considering it's in the same building as my parents and it was left to me as inheritance. I was lucky, other people don't have this kind of luck, I have friends which are over 30 and still live with their parents, it's a shitty country, and wages are even shittier.

Well the proper way would be to buy an AV receiver and hook up your TV & PC speakers to that. That is how I have it set up - then you just toggle outputs on the remote.

BUT you should also be able to just switch your primary audio output in Control Panel/Sound. You should have your HDMI output, and your normal PC audio output there, so just toggle between the two. Audio drivers tend to be crap and you might have some issues with this approach.

If its just for films and shit lots of media players let you choose the audio device.

Dunno how well it works in windows, but its usually an option

I guess its just for movies from pc. I tried hooking up 360 to it but I am just not used to couch gaming. i still prefer it hooked up to my pc monitor.(not that I use this 360 anyway anymore)

and I don't bother with sound. I am good with watching movies on that TV with its tv speaers.

Right now i amusing vlc, extended display, native on TV, TV speakers (and thats how I want it) but every couple of minutes the sound goes to shit. Its all crackily and sizzling and so on. but only for a minute or so. Then it goes back to normal

Just buy a proper audio receiver and be set. I spent $300 on my Onkyo set, it came with receiver and 5.1 speakers (1000w). Obviously audio is not that great for the price but it works.

I'd say getting a receiver for PC speakers is a bit of an overkill. It's certainly something to look at down the line, but considering wiring up your typical PC speakers to a receiver is not really that straight forward, coupled with the need to have one more device to switch on whenever you just want to use your PC, I wouldn't call it an ideal immediate solution.

Other than that, toggling between sound outputs is done by setting the default playback device (just right click on the speaker icon and go to Playback Devices). There is no shortcut for something like that unfortunately. You could set up some kind of a macro type Auto Hotkey Solution though. I have something like that set up for my gamepad for quick toggling between outputs - it's not really pretty, but works fine when i need it Smile

If it's only for movies, then as people have said already, most decent media players support explicit audio device selection, which means you can keep the output for movies and everything else as you want it, without toggling anything.
But even if you want to quickly toggle between the two, some players support presets and keyboard shortcuts for switching those presets. This will allow you to quickly switch between speakers using a keyboard shortcut when watching a movie.

I mainly use XBMC for playing media on my tv (via my computer). I just have that set to passthrough audio via my surround amp. You could use XBMC and select your tv as the audio output in the xbmc settings and basically you're set.

XBMC is a media player for PC.

It don't really see a reason for connecting your PC to the X360 to play movies. Seems like a pointless extra step.

i know, right? who could have thought there are countries and people OUTSIDE of richest countries. i heard tales about countries (about 90%+ of the world actually) where people have to work their asses off to just be able to afford food, and can only dream about having their own apartment/house or even afford rent.

If you think that nobody knows ask yourself, that one time you had your friends over and they made fun of your sticky keyboard.
