Been with them for years now, but now they charge you 5 bucks a month for their program and i think it's time to move back to something free...

Any suggestions?

Still using the yarr version of Newsleecher 3.9. Why would you switch if you can use the yarr version?
Also, I used Grabit before Newsleecher and that one is free.

You stop using an application used for leeching because you have to pay for it? You know you can leech that app using the same app right?

+1 for Sabnzbd

Then use CouchPotato and NzbDrone and have all your movie and TV series downloads take care of themselves.

Why NZBdrone over Sickbeard ?

Or is this a windows thing, I know NZBdrone uses .Net (Mono elsewhere I believe) but I dont see what is so great about it over sickbeard.

EDIT //

http://flexget.com/ is another one for automation, I keep meaning to look at it.

I never really looked into sickbeard, NzbDrone is the first thing I tried and stuck with it, it does what I want without any hickups. Also my MediaCenter/Usenet Server is on Windows, so I like having things .NET.

AFAIK, they only charge for updates. If you stop paying, you can continue to use the version that was released while you were paying.

At least I continued to use my old version for quite some time, maybe it was a glitch?

Yeah, not just the comfort for d/l, but also the comfort in watching with XBMC, if you download the metadata and thumbnails, fanart, posters, and such... looks so much nicer than just a bunch of files in some folders...

Sure. That too. Just use my RPi and let it dl artwork etc. on every boot. But perhaps your way is faster/easier.

What do you mean, let it dl artwork on every boot? There's an option in Sickbeard. Config -> Post-Processing -> Metadata -> Droplist(XBMC or whatever) -> Select metadata info.

Why, how do you do it?

Well, XBMC (RaspBMC in my case) has TVDB and MovieDB plugins available. And when you update your library on boot, they take care of the artwork.

I haven't tried using SB's postprocessing yet though.

It works a) perfectly b) uses the same tvdb.com info (from the XBMC plugins) in the same XBMC format, that's the whole point.

Ahh, I see. So result's the same.

sabnzbd annoys me lately. Downloading entire season inside one NZB with the garbled names nonsense the kiddies use these days, Sab fails.

Would you mind explaining the Synology part to me?

I've been thinking about getting NAS for a while now, and I'm currently aiming for a HP Microserver, which, with some tinkering and custom BIOS, can house 6+ HDDs for a very decent price and run any OS on it. So Linux with a nice filesystem, or maybe win8 with the new Storage Pools thing.

However, I already have a mediacenter server, which has a stronger cpu and already does all the downloading and post processing, the only issue is space for more hdds. So I'm open for other recommendations Wink

What exactly has Sab to do with garbled names?

It usually succeeds deciphering them correctly. The problem is, when it's an entire season it derps out, extracts one episode and then removes all PAR files for the rest of the episodes. It's clearly a bug.

I had the same issue a couple of times, I'm pretty sure it can be fixed with post processing scripts that rename the extracted content. I do want the original scene file names though :/
