Less about countries like Romania or Ukraine (I don't even begrudge them for not knowing Hungary even exist Razz ), but the United-freaking-Kingdom, Spain or Greece? Holy shit this guy is mentally challenged, to use the pc-terminology. Very Happy

Having a bad and continually worsening education system is one thing. Being a certified retard is a whole other ballpark. Laughing

That is totally different though. Knowledge of administrative units in a country is different than knowing the location of the country on the map Laughing

You guys think that's bad, look up jaywalking by jay leno.

He randomly asks people very common and easy question on the street and it's really embarrassing how many of them don't know the answers or get them wrong Sad

yeah but you can do that anywhere with anyone about anything and then cut together the dumbest answers and make it look like it's the norm. That has been done to death.

Trust me, if by any chance they do that jaywalking thingy here, the results wouldn't be better, at all Very Happy

At least you make it in the top 20 grinhurt http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/11/27/best-education-in-the-wor_n_2199795.html (Italy will probably be around the 40-50th spot, along with the trusty pals Portugal, Spain and Greece)

Is that about college education (too lazy to read the article Razz ). Because the US made it to the top 20, but only their higher education is what's worth anything. Anything below that is barely enough to qualify as elementary over here. Seriously, I was an exchange student there, and while I left my math studies here learning about logarithms and were past trigonometry, the compulsory math lessons I had to take there were about multiplications and solving basic equations. We learned that in the first half of elementary school.

However their colleges and universities are world class. That's the only part that could make it to any sort of top# list. But I guess with the conservitards working to cut funding to education and the religious-right shielding their kids from those evil-secular-professors, it won't stay on that list for long. Razz

I believe they use a various range of indicators and put 'em together in the mix (8th and 4th grade PISA, literacy rate, international test scores, graduation rates etc.) but as always happens the results are far from being accurate and strictly depend on the sample(s) taken into account. Razz Experience "on-the field" like yours is what really counts and is 100% trustworthy..and the report is definitely alarming Very Happy

100% trustworthy? Come on mate, it was an anecdote*. I might have ended up in a really under performing school (it was in Arkansas after all Razz). All I know is that I was completely half-assing the entire year (it was more about having fun that even remotely about studying the entire year), and I still ended up in the top 10% of the entire state at the end of the year. Hell, I even gave up on the math class after the first semester and went into JROTC instead for that period, at least that was interesting. Smile

* Yeah, I'm skeptical enough to know how unreliable personal anecdotes are, and can only say: don't take my word for it. Laughing
