Hah! Thought this would be a fun thread to have Smile

My Polish brethren, it has been about 16 years since I have stepped foot in the homeland.

When I lived in Poland circa 1992 - 1997, I was starring to discover how much into music I really was. We didn't have all that fancy shmancy 'murica music! Laughing

We had Kazik! Piersi, Big Cyc, (lol both names about tits), Lady Punk, Liroy...etc

Those were some of the bands/groups that I was really into at the time. I'm just wondering for those of you that still might live in good ol Polska (Neon, KC?), are these groups still around? Are they any good 15+ years later, or do people laugh at them now... kind of like I do when I listen to Scyzoryk by Liroy now (I still love that tune though )

How about some of you other guys post some of the music groups that are big in your country. Pumpy, whats big in Germany? ixi give us some good italiano tunes. I want to hear it all!

Here are some of mine I mentioned:

Kazik: (this guy was the fucking best) I had the cassette tape of this album and would listen to it non-fucking-stop

Big Cyc <3

Liroy:

I'm from Finland but your post reminded me of my favorite polish band UnSun.

Gothic metal, lead singer has a beautiful voice.
This video quality sucks though.

Most of their videos are really clever and humoristic. They put a lot of thought in them.

It's always nice to hear melodies from the other countries, great thread Razz

When it comes to Italian music, I mean the 'conventional' one, sadly I find hard to post something that I really like. I need to go back to the 70s/early 80s, with the progressive music and elaborate sonorities.

Stuff like this, which is certainly non-conventional:

and many, many others. It's a pretty damn unique genre and miles ahead if we compare it to the horrible Italian music produced these days.

Amongst the recent-ish stuff (rock-ish) I like:

+ many other not-so-well-known groups

Then we have all the underground, very underground metal/heavy metal bands that would deserve a thread on their own Very Happy
One example:

We don't have a tradition when it comes to metal, but good stuff can be found deep under all the pop garbage. Razz

I remember some of those songs, they were good! The metal one that you posted recently was great as well Smile (and I'm very picky when it comes to music xD)

I live in the US, so all our music that is known from being 'here' sucks Sad

So only thing I can think of for "thats american music" is country music. And its one of only a handful of types of music that make me physically twitch and try to get away from it.

And ALL of it sounds like one or the other to me, only difference is if its man or a woman to me. I cant tell the difference between country songs and artist:

-We don't control what happens to us in life, but we control how we respond to what happens in life.
-Hard times create strong men, strong men create good times, good times create weak men, and weak men create hard times. -G. Michael Hopf

Damn, I was thinking of opening EXACTLY the same thread a few days ago. Very Happy

Well, here's one of the reason why I was contemplating to open it. Smile

This guy used to be in a Depeche Mode style band in the early 90s, now has a very successful solo career. Starts at 0:40.

A very popular blues musician with one of his greatest hits.

USA have some of the best stoner/alt rock bands of the whole world Razz

Also grunge was invented there! You've got great metal bands too (Metallica, Slayer, Dream Theater, Trivium etc.)..but yeah, country music is probably the most recognizable and distinctive I guess. Same for Italy, with songs like "O sole mio" and Adriano Celentano's tracks Laughing

By far the best (if not only thing) USA has to offer is a bunch of awesome bands that hate their home country.
