I've decided to dust off my PS3 but I can't seem to get my monitor to detect the PS3 via HDMI input. My monitor's changed since I last used my PS3 (old one died)....

I own this monitor now....
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824116483

It's HDCP compliant. Yes, I've tried changing HDMI ports/cables/output via monitor menu. I've also tried resetting the PS3 display settings (holding power button). Does anyone have any ideas or am I just shit out of luck? Sad

I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.

You sure the HDMI port on both ends works?

I'm sure the HDMI cable itself works, as well as the HDMI port on the monitor, as it's what I've been using the hook my PC up to my monitor. No problems there.

The display just doesn't seem to want to pick up the PS3 as input (stays in standby mode).

This guy (at some generic trash help-site) seems to have the same issue: http://www.helpowl.com/q/ViewSonic/VX2753mhLED/Technical-Support/detect-ps3-hdmi/164459

No response though, and further Googling has turned up fruitless.

Turns out the HDMI port on the monitor is a bit loose and the HDMI cable wasn't connecting until I literally jammed it in there. I'm a right and proper idiot - sorry for wasting your time Werelds. Thanks for the help! Very Happy
