The year is 1938. James Lee Quatermain is a man of many talents, yet holding on to money isn't one of them. Quatermain isn't all too keen on escorting Jennifer Goodwin, a US agent and former colleague of his, to an Egyptian temple complex in order to retrieve an ancient artifact - The Heart of Atlantis. Neither does he believe in the reputed invigorating qualities of this artifact, nor does he care that a division of the Ahnenerbe, the Nazi department specialized in the occult, is after The Heart as well. But life has its ways of changing one's perspective. Quatermain soon finds himself part of a hunt across the globe - from the stormy deserts of Egypt to the icy depths of the Arctic and all the way to the steaming jungles of Guatemala.
Features:
* Classic "Action / Adventure" gameplay from a first-person perspective. Combining the fast paced action of intense gun battles with adventure gameplay that rewards players for exploring, solving puzzles and by "taking the road less travelled".
* Traveller's equipment: compass, treasure maps, notebook and flashlight - necessary to solve ancient puzzles, find treasures and even fight with certain type of enemies.
* Using environmental traps to eliminate enemies in many spectacular ways.
* Exotic, picturesque locations from around the world - Egypt, Arctic and forgotten Mayan ruins.
* Compelling story faithful to the spirit of classic adventure movies.
Can't stand it, to say its budget is an understatement, it plays like a very old PC title and looks like one.
The shooting system so begs a mouse..
The Puzzles are easy and worse still a notebook pops up to aid you in the puzzle.
Story is cheesy as hell as is the voice acting, graphically as I said, its very old school, its like one of those cheap attempts to copy a game so expect poor textures, some frame hits and graphic glitches.
I wanted to like it and gave it an hour plus but in the end I just turned it off.
Basically, if you have nothing else to play then give it a look just to ease the boredom but I'd suggest finding an unfinished game and going back to that.
ok so played this a bit more and color me impressed , nice combat nice Logic puzzles [logic from the uncharted world like find a key that is hidden in front of you or use a note book etc...]
xbox360 version runs in sub-hd and playing it on a big big big Led Tv ouch those jaggies , and the FPS can go from 30 fps to 1fps if there are more things on screen then 5 .... and you fight from 10 to 15 on screen ... so xbox 360 is nearly impossible to play in heavy gun fights that happen every 20min , it lags so MUCH it hurts , FOV is piss poor 45 ouch ouch and ouch ... my eyes and 10% of the screen is covered with your big gun or a note book ...
nice game and quite interesting and it has this magic in it that makes you want to continue and even collect any shit they give you [a rpg system with skills , you need treasures to unlock new skills]
fighting system is taken straight from ALAN WAKE , you flash a torch or a flashlight on a baddie he will glow and then you shoot him ... its kinda retarded , even the hero in this game is SELF AWARE ABOUT THIS how idiotic it is "but it makes the job done" , well as retarded as it sounds the gun play is GREAT
so what we get on the XBOX360 is a technically broken game that runs crappy, looks like XBOX1 but it is so interesting you just continue to see what will happen around the next corner , the gun play , the story line and cleaver logic puzzles make you ... forget about those.. it just pulls you in
my IMO : go wait for the PC version , the xbox360 is only worth it if your PC is crap , but then be prepared for 1fps gameplay with Xbox 1 visuals [stretch those screens to 1080p and you will see how it looks on a BIG ASS TV]
I only played it a bit before I turned it off, and I thought the combat and AI was ass. Also it just felt bad and sluggish. Maybe I will try it again sometime if you guys think it has some merit.
LOL, the last pic is where I stopped playing it. How the fuck do you open that door?
its right in front your face .... on the side of the sarcophagus there is a red scarab , pick it up and place it in the door , then 8 to 16 mummies will attack you from those new opened tombs , after you kill them in each one there is a red scarab that you place in the door ...
Just completed it, and its far from a perfect game.
But its more interesting than all the braindead FPS games out these days. Its a proper adventure game.
+ good lenght
+a lot of puzzles
-chunky cotnrols
-fps drops
-the game can be a little predictable at times
