Can't take a walk on the street without some guy trying out his luck by asking me "the fuck you looking at". Always looking for a reason to fight, steal and otherwise try to humiliate honest Romanians.
And then, when you tak or fight back and actually have some guts, they run like the cowards they are and bring their whole freakin' family because hey, fighting in the street is how they prove their manliness.
I hate them with a passion and I never miss out a chance to display this. I am not racist, xenophobic or whatnot, but gypsies, oh man, did they fuck up our country.

problems with them and afterwards i moved to germany only to realize that they have a special tax exemption status here due to the killing of gypsies in concentration camps in ww2, and to see how shamelessly the newest generation of gypsies over here abuse that status and act like complete assholes unable of any form of civilized and rational conversation.

I agree - however, I do know atleast 1 Gypsy that is a nice guy. He told me he hate when people mention he's one cos people always get suspicious when they hear about it. He's a freelancing sheetmetal worker and a damn good one too
...but others i've met are the ones who usually comes to the place I work in groups of 5 or more..and offers to sharpen our tools and such...for a small fee...they always spread out going through everything while talking to us. Anoying as hell.
Others that tend to come lots of times are the ones who want to buy metal scrap...they usually don't take no for an answer. We told them that we sold copper for aprox 35kr/kilo to the scrapyard..he said that he'd pay 25kr/kilo.. so we told him that its 10kr less than we get from the scrapyard...he's answer "yeah? But I need to earn something from it too!" wtf? What kind of reasoning is that?? lol! Atleast he was honest about that part others have been sneaking in (while we worked) and started to collect stuff around us.
Dangerous lot - about that sharpening part I mentioned. One of our customers accepted their offer - but when they came back they had changed the cost - when he refused to pay....another 10+ of them arrived

Everywhere I look people hate gypsies. They are viewed with extreme suspicion by everyone - regardless of color, nationality or culture. They have been pursued (A LOT of gypsies died in concentration camps) and prior to that they were treated as shit because of their darker skin (origins from the regions around India) symbolized darkness and evil (originally (medieaval times) basically they were viewed with great suspicion and despise through Christian doctrine. Funny thing is that to try and avoid the qualms of being "filthy indians" they spread a rumor that they were from Egypt (hence "Gypsies") - which helped them slightly (the pope in Rome made a decree to protect them), unfortunately this did not last long so they had to flee Christian and Muslim countries alike (since the Gypsies did not follow either religions) and (much later) Hitler decided to divide all races into "übermensch" and "untermensch" - where of course "filth" like the Romani were classified as the latter. The irony in this is that the "Aryan race" that Hitler spoke so softly about was originally Indian (oh well!). Since then they've basically become the easiest target for hate - everywhere they go everyone wants them gone (I saw a gypsy woman at a store today and the clerk started looking at her and said (out loud) "Fucking thieves".
From my point of view those who "get away" with anything is everyone who hate the gypsies. I've basically never heard anyone challenge anyone who publically hated gypsies.

I think there is this vicious cycle that is going with them.
People perceive them as a trash who only steal, not giving them proper chance for education, and integration into society, which in turns forces them to steal, or do the 'dirtiest' jobs, like sifting through trash in search for metals they can sell so that they could survive, and neglecting the education.
And this goes on and on, which is quite sad.
Their culture is in fact pretty rich, and seeing some folk traditions can be quite interesting...

Now thats true indeed! But my mate christian (who's a gypsy) actually confirmed that they are criminals most of the time and he's ashamed of it (but Im sure more of them are like him - he was mostly talking about his family, his relatives and his friends)

Heh, some of us actually pick up books every once in awhile.
Personally I try to treat everyone I meet as individuals whether they choose to adhere to a given label or not. Sometimes I fail (recently this tends to happen when I get too deeply involved in "gender debates") but mostly I succeed. I have only met very few people of Romani culture and heritage, one of them was a musician who played in one of my friends' heavy metal band - and that guy was fucking awesome. Unfortunately he was mostly doped up or high as a kite which made him fuck himself over (my friend told me he now basically is homeless (but some of his "family" helps him with food and shit).
I dunno, sometimes I find that behind all the labels there is an individual that in spite of all prejudice is a decent human being. Unfortunately subscription to structures and norms can fuck with this.
The gypsie ethnicity is a joke. They're just chavs. The men can do what they want whilst the women are made to leave education at 11/12 and become homemakers. Women arent allowed to drink until they're married. Talk about oppressed 2nd class citizens.
