I remember being on holiday in Corfu when I was 13, eating a chocolate wafer sweet similar to bueno. I ate something like 5 of these wafers, when getting fed up of them I decided to split the last one in half, and there squirming around with trails of where it had eaten the white chocolate a maggot....

How many maggots did I eat? Vomit

Haha it's one of the worst sensations ever... I tried it with cherries. Decided to split one after having eaten ~20 of them, only to realize that a little worm was living inside it. I inglip'd and then opened another, same xD.

Since it was already too late the only thing left to do was thinking "they're harmless after all, it's just fresh proteins!". It didn't help of course, but now I'm surely more careful when I eat anything fruit-related Razz

it's 15% fat (but these 15% make up around 75% of the calories of an avocado. maybe you mixed that up)

I dunno says here it's even more, 85%

Avocado has sometimes received a "bad rap" as a vegetable too high in fat. While it is true that avocado is a high-fat food (about 85% of its calories come from fat), the fat contained in avocado is unusual and provides research-based health benefits. The unusual nature of avocado fat is threefold. First are the phytosterols that account for a major portion of avocado fats. These phytosterols include beta-sitosterol, campesterol, and stigmasterol and they are key supporters of our inflammatory system that help keep inflammation under control. The anti-inflammatory benefits of these avocado fats are particularly well-documented with problems involving arthritis. Second are avocado's polyhydroxylated fatty alcohols (PFAs). PFAs are widely present in ocean plants but fairly unique among land plants—making the avocado tree (and its fruit) unusual in this regard. Like the avocado's phytosterols, its PFAs also provide us with anti-inflammatory benefits. Third is the unusually high amount of a fatty acid called oleic acid in avocado. Over half of the total fat in avocado is provided in the form of oleic acid—a situation very similar to the fat composition of olives and olive oil. Oleic acid helps our digestive tract form transport molecules for fat that can increase our absorption of fat-soluble nutrients like carotenoids. As a monounsaturated fatty acid, it has also been shown to help lower our risk of heart disease. So don't be fooled by avocado's bad rap as a high-fat food. Like other high-fat plant foods (for example, walnuts and flaxseeds), avocado can provide us with unique health benefits precisely because of its unusual fat composition.

If you eat any store bought, packaged and not home grown food, you eat that type of thing all the time everyday..just its ground up/mixed into it within 'acceptable' levels Razz
So just consider it is still within the normal legal limits of amount of insect parts and insect feces you find in any food, just it was all concentrated into one spot Cool Face

To be completely honest when it happened to me I didn't notice anything suspicious, the taste seemed mighty fine. Perhaps even better! Laughing Not really haha, but yeah, it's not that they have some terrible taste like , let's say stinkbugs (that my cat used to eat on daily basis just to piss me off)

yeah, but that's calories content not actual weight content Smile

Dang, stuff like that is enough to put you off a certain food for ever.

When I was a kid, I ate two apples in a row where the core was rotten and filled with maggots and worms. From then on, I always cut my apples in two to make sure the core wasn't full of worms.

I don't care if worms are healthy, I still don't want any crawling around <.<.

:/ I once had a bad experience with a broccolli, which was full of tiny little maggots... I didn't eat broccolli for some years :/ Only in very small portions and definitely nothing that looked like the stem.
