An official announcement isn't expected until next week, but sources have told us the deal is almost complete.
Gamefly is a major US online rental games firm, similar to LoveFilm in the UK. Direct2Drive recently launched a digital rental service, which would tie-in with Gamefly's postal offering.
Direct2Drive is one of the biggest competitors to Valve's Steam download service. It has a presence throughout the US, in the UK and throughout Europe.
The deal follows IGN's recent acquisition of 1UP parent UGO.

IGN launched their second DD service about 2 months ago: http://pcstore.ign.com/
I guess it was part of their plan to sell their first one, D2D, to whoever was paying enough..

There's reports that Gamefly has been hacked, with some customers saying that they had orders they didn't place themselves added to their accounts.
Currently, Gamefly is down, so even if the reports are true, and you wanted to change your password, you can't right now.
