However, a number of sources close to the film including Simon Pegg denied the rumour, insisting that Cumberbatch would not take on the role made famous by Ricardo Montalban.
Another report suggested that Cumberbatch would play Gary Mitchell, a former friend of Kirk's who was transformed into a ruthless megalomaniac by an encounter with a galactic barrier.

as a startrek movie it looks just as horrible as the last one
which is to be expected i guess
looking forward to it, but i would still prefer trek to have its intellectual approach to storytelling

So the main nemesis is sorta Khan but not THE KHAN as thats not possible: he is frozen still in Botany Bay and awaken in the original 60s ST. Nevertheless.. looks pretty exciting. Yes I am a die-hard ST fan from a lonnng time ago and don't mind this direction even though the whole time line is absolutely fcuked up now and the universe is barfing and incredible ill for how time is so abused and tainted now. Gah! Too much time travel == Sicky Universe.
