Fuck me, every time I have to travel for work I end up somewhere with fucking third world internet speeds.

why even bother? I know it's free, but at least some kind of decent paid premium choice would be good. It's like they try to just share a regular connection with hundreds of hotel guests. I was hoping to use netflix while I'm here, which obviously won't work.

Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad

even writing this bitching thread doesn't help Sad

That's basically the typical wi-fi speed here, and often you even have to pay for something like this. Crying or Very sad ...when you're lucky enough to find a hotel that actually has wi-fi, that is.

Net Boosters? Do they just increase the coverage area or do they do a bit of speed too?

Apart from a boutique hotel in Spain (which had coverage 50-100m outside the hotel even) all hotels I've been to had shitty internet. A four star hotel in Turkey had a tiny fucking Sitecom router, for the ENTIRE hotel.
Getting decent coverage should be mandatory in every average to good hotel imo.

It's not even expensive or difficult at all. Jesus, a cheap switch and an access point for each floor and you're done.

Yep, when I was in San Francisco, I bought a 4G sim with 1 month unlimited data plan. It was faster than the wifi in the hotel by orders of magnitude. Laughing
