the exact same thing happened in the Japan release, its just porpoganda, I have a PSP, it is fine (2 dead pixels, which is acceptable in my book based on the overall quality). You are going to find sony haters, nintendo haters etc..

- did I tell you my DS tried to kill my brother? had a knife and everything (problem by design)

Mchart - the DS isnt Perfect you know... That has also had problems

I was reading the other day how the whole top section of someones DS's LCD Died for no reason at all.

The DS Wario Game had Bugs

And the LCD had Dead Pixels

Quote:
The Nintendo DS has been launched in the U.S., but not without some surprise and faults to go with it. The fault comes in the form of the LCD screens, which seem to have a dead pixel issue bad enough for Nintendo to release a statement about the problem. Apparently some of the screens were shipped with the possibility of having dead pixels--it's just one of those things with LCD panels. Nintendo reassured gamers that if they find dead pixels Nintendo will repair the unit for free. The surprising news is that the DS needs a reboot after setting changes. Every time you go to the root menu and change a setting, the system shuts down and you have to power on again--this even happens with Picto-chat. This is a first for any console/handheld I have seen...

Dead Pixels is a common thing on LCD's, even big PC LCD screens can have dead pixels (Even the ones made by the best) but you have to have something like atlest 5 or more dead to be able to get a new one..

I can find more but EVERYONE knows that first releases have problems (Even you should if you are a big console / handheld gamer that you said you are), and then the console makers do this clever thing called "fixing the faults" for the next batch to be released Wink

It sucks though that Sony is not replacing dead pixeled units. If I will now buy the psp then it will be from a local store that has a good return policies.

Depends, I have a Toshiba m200 Tablet PC from the US but it is under world wide warranty. The iPod is as well, but the PSP is not. This means you have to ship it to some support centre in the US and they will ship it back to some place in the US. I hugely recommend to buy it locally in a store that has a good return policiy. GAME has a good return policy and will let you take back hardware with in 10 days if you dont like it.

Nope. Sony Europe has no obligation what so ever to help you with your PSP bought in a nother region. And they wont replace dead pixeled PSPs...but if you buy from a store that will accept returns from opened packages is your best bet as if you find a PSP with dead pixels then you return it.

I would wait until it's released to Europe then order from game uk. They have an amazing returns policy. Even HMV couldn't compete with it. They tried then went back to their old system after two weeks.

I bought my Rio Karma when it came out, and had to return it and it cost me 50 usd to ship it to them for repairs. Luckily I was part of the Beta testing group for the firmware and did not have to pay for the return shipping.

But imagine getting hit by Import tax and then getting hit by Import Tax again when they send it back to you (If you send it in for Repairs) Very Happy

I had 1 dead pixel on my Nintendo DS so I emailed Nintendo and asked if I could get it repaired under warranty and sure enough they said yes, free shipping both ways, only took 1.5 weeks. Gotta love a no defect guarantee for a year.

Nintendo truly does have the best support for its products, then you add on the fact that their products are tough as nails to begin with, and it really does rule.

What isn't as powerful? The warranty or durability? If you're talking about the system specs than that just isn't relevant, just look at the xbox I own all 4 of the newer consoles and the xbox gets the least playtime even though it has the most "powerful" specs.

Graphics dont make good games. Not to mention that the DS was really never intended to be the direct competetor to the PSP. As nintendo stated even before the DS came out "It is the 3rd piller". But you can indeed compare the two because of the fact that the DS is so much cheaper, and has cooler stuff like the touch screen, and the ability to still play GBA shit.

All we really know is that it will have graphics better then the PSP, the ability to play DS games, and yeah, thats about it. So that means it will have a touchscreen, probally an analog stick, wireless of course, but thats all I can speculate.
