Why would you need to bother with jailbreaking etc if you only need to watch movies? #4 defines it all - just grab an I4 and treat yourself to a $20 Itunes card. You'll buy AviPlayerHD for all your AC3 movie needs and have plenty left for awesome games like KOTOR or Xcom.
Honestly I don't understand this hacking thing - it's so fun to have your purchases and save games and everything backed up forever. And it costs less than fucking McDonalds...

iPad 4 ships with 6.1.3 these days. No chance of jailbreaking it till iOS 7 (which will most likely be jailbroken again).
Wait for iPad 5, iPad 4 is "old" now.

I would wait for the new iPad which is less then a month away at this point as you can then get the older gen iPad for a lot cheaper.
And yeah, there is no point in jailbreaking if all you want to do is watch movies/tv shows.
I haven't had a need to jailbreak for a while now, and with iOS7 there is even less need to jailbreak. About the only reason i'd think about jailbreaking at this point is just so I can play pirated apps, but I don't so there's no need.

A mini version of an iPad3 or 4? Because the iPad Mini is already out and it's based off the A5, iPad 2.

Rumours say A6, so more iPhone 5 than iPad 4.
And just to clarify my earlier post before anyone thinks they're smart: yes, there are rumours about an iPad 5 as well, but that's likely coming near the end of the year. Mini's the one that's coming "soon". According to all the rumours anyway. |

What rumours? The iPad Mini is out, it's been out for almost a year and it runs on the A5. Or do you mean another revision of the iPad Mini? A6 would be epic powerful for that.

I'm not saying it's not good enough, I'm saying that its price will drop, and for the same price he will have a better device.
It's also rumored (and vastly known), that iPad 5 will have smaller edges, a la iPad mini.
So better design and smaller.

get android tablet, install MX Player and DTS codec, enjoy trouble free experience. fuck this apple hand holding minimal customization bullshit. apple is fine as long as you play by their rules and use their apps, but once you need something more advanced or need more customizations it becomes a huge stinky pile of overpriced overrated turd.
