Indeed, so many cool touches. Not to mention the gameplay itself with proper platforming and no hand-holding...and now we're left with the puzzle-free/play-itself Uncharted's, Tomb Remakers and all the 'press X to win' clones

for its time it was a SO innovative game , platforming action with gun play , item use puzzles not simple find a key or press a lever, NPCs you can speak to , later on you get a Sword/ Machete and a grappling hook

i mean WOW , back then in 1995 the most played rip all played was this game a 120 mb rip without voice acting that later on ... like 2 years after when i have bought the original game , i have found out all voices where Wav and took 500mb ... damn

ps. its a win95 game

now this game can be found on any respectable abandonware site , just give it a try and you will be amazed why no one HD remade it ...

Well at least one of the reviewers would be happy with the way things "evolved" Laughing

Quote:
The game received mixed reviews. Most agreed however that the game's graphics were excellent for its time. Coming Soon Magazine wrote: "The most delightful aspect of this game has to be the background scenery. Every panel is unique and represents enormous effort and talent."

justadventure.com, however, were overall critical of the game because of its hard puzzles, and gave it a "D" on a scale running from A through F. The reviewer wrote: "Eye and ear candy are nothing if a game's no fun to play, and The Bermuda Syndrome is definitely not fun to play.

" a-for-adventure.com, on the other hand, praised the graphics as well as the challenge provided for experienced adventure-gamers.

Similar to Another World, Bermuda Syndrome starts with you being teleported to a different dimension. Instead of ending up on a barren rocky world, however, you crash your plane into a lush jungle filled with dinosaurs, thereby accidentally saving a princess from a rather morbid fate. From then on you move through the jungle, where nearly every screen is a puzzle on its own. You can jump, climb, duck, talk, use items, shoot, stab, roll - all of which you'll need to get to the end of the game.

Bermuda Syndrome is not very forgiving, though. Make a wrong move or a bad decision and it's Game Over, and trust me, you'll be seeing those two words a LOT so save often. It really is a case of trial and error, and while some common sense will get you through to the next screen, most of the time you may come across situations where a clever solution doesn't work simply because the developers never thought of it. Still, it's not quite as bad as Another World, which doesn't let you save and where dying often leads to frustration. While Another World may be a classic, time has moved on and being forced to replay the same bit 50 times is really no longer acceptable (unless you own a console, it seems, where certain developers still have the nerve to pull this trick).

The graphics are also a big improvement. No vector graphics here, but instead very colorful backdrops in high resolution (well, 640x480, which was considered 'high' compared to VGA at the time). The game just feels right and creates a convincing atmosphere. I would have liked some more ambient sound, though, to bring the jungle more to life. The animation is smooth as well and may remind you of Prince of Persia at times.

and then we get Daemon Souls and all go ape shit crazy for its difficultly and that you die allot , and for that alone they make it GOTY
