Welcome Back, Keeper! EA Announces Dungeon Keeper For Mobile Devices
Twisted New Take on Cult Classic Strategy Game Coming To iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and Android Devices This Winter
Horny’s Back and better than ever in Dungeon Keeper on mobile! Today, EA and Mythic studio announced a mobile reboot of the 1990s hit with the unveiling of Dungeon Keeper on site at EA’s Gamescom Business Lounge. Coming to iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and Android devices this winter, Dungeon Keeperprovides an addictive mix of strategic building and tower defense; it’s a ground-breaking mobile experience that’s diabolically fun to its core.
As the hands-on overlord of your very own subterranean lair, design a devilish dungeon with expertly laid tunnels and traps, unearth treasures, and collect and command minions in a battle to dominate the ever-expanding underworld. Invade other players’ dungeons and unleash the powers of the Hand of Evil™. Your opponents will tremble in fear at the sight of your army and the force of your spells as you lay waste to their defenses and destroy their dungeons!
Filled with engaging graphics, explosive PvP and PvE gameplay, and wicked wit, Dungeon Keeper proves once again that it’s good to be bad.
Played for about 20 minutes which was basically the tutorials. It seems cool and I want to like it but the whole freemium thing is definitely offputting. Theres an overwhelming plethora of rooms, traps, minions and Keeper boosts and upgrades available and unlockables.
You can also summon minions to other dungeons, single player AI to raid their dungeons and obviously you can also be raided yourself. I would presume it has multiplayer to raid real world players too.
There are different types of rock to mine through to get through to the rooms. Soft rock takes seconds to get through, medium rock is 4 hours and hard rock is 1 day in realtime! You can pay gems to speed things up and obviously buy gems with real money. 14,000 gems costs £69.99!
Runs nice on my iPad 3 and Im sure it will be flawless on my iPhone 5. You can zoom in and out but doesnt look like the maps can be rotated. Its very cartoony looking but the Keeper voice is the same which is awesome and all the sound effects bring back some cherished memories from the 90's! Seems like the game requires an internet connection as it keeps reconnecting after iPad has gone into standby.
"Cash grab disappointment If you are expecting this game to be anything even remotely near the fantastic classics it pretends to be, you will be wildly disappointed. This is a game that basically REQUIRES microtransaction purchases to be playable, and even then the gameplay is nothing like the originals. Get the original games on GoG or whatever for pc, and pretend this never existed."
Took me 2 months or so to get this far already..
Shitty part is where they upped the prices of imps by quite the amount after almost saved enough for the 4th, but they did implement more ways to get gems, so that kinda made up for it

Well a friend of mine bought himself some gems, and i can fully understand why.
He doesn't have much time, so he bought just enough gems to get 6 imps, making the 2x boost thingy last 8(?) hours rather than 1 hour with just the 3 imps you can get at start.
(1 imp is 15min boost, 2 = 30min, 3 = 1 hour, 4 = 2 hours, and i presume that 5 will be 4 and 6 will be 8 hours.)
Because even now, with all the time i have available, i just only recently got my 4th imp.. So someone without the time to invest in this has to do that if he wants to play the game..

holy fucking shit ... 24h to dig though a SINGLE TERRAIN BLOCK and to speed things up you need 243 for a single block , 1,50 pound for a single block IN REAL MONEY
I saw things like that in here and in other "woman problems" topics so...... Am I the only one that thinks some authorities needs to be alerted about Saner and him possibly being a rapist and/or kidnapper ?
Saner is not being serious. Unless its the subject of Santa!
Well like i said before, if you have time (and willing to check back every xx min/hour), it's not THAT bad as people make it look.
Yes, this isn't the good old dungeon keeper of the past, but we don't live in the past anymore, so it would be stupid to keep our mindset stuck in it.
The game itself isn't half as bad if you expect it to be exactly what it is, a city builder in DK style.
I'm enjoying it and got quite far, without having to invest a single penny.
So it's not like you can't get anywhere without investing money
Oh and lol @ metro calling this a "reboot"

how is TR not a reboot when it pretty much reboots the whole story and starts anew,
why does it have to be on the original platform?
that doesnt make sense...
