Comming today, kinda like rust meets 7days meets stomping land, one big huge server like MMO...heres copy paste from steam forums:
Developer: Octagon Interactive
Engine: Unity
Platform: Windows | Mac | Linux
Early Access: June 5, 2014.
Beta Stage: Planned to October, 2014.
Full release: 4th Quarter, 2014.
Q: Pay 2 Win?
A: There will be no pay2win/additional monthly costs once you purchase the game.
Q: Single Player? Hosting my own server?
A: Yes - When you are launching the game you should see 4 Options "Join Official Game (Massive FPS)", "Join Community Game", "Host Community Game", "Start Single-Player".
Q: How are you going to deal with cheaters?
A: VAC3 + Custom Anti-Cheat.
Q: Will there be a 2/4 pack available?
A: We have requested so from Steam, more details in the future.
Q: Sleeper Mode?
A: No, we think that once logged out you shouldn't have to worry about your inventory. However there will be 10 seconds delay on log-out.
Q: Food mechanics?
A: We had food mechanics in the game during the early alpha but we dropped it. It was annoying to constantly look for food/drink, there are enough games that let you do this so we thought we'll create a survival game for those who are tired of that as well.
Q: Griefing?
A: We will minimize griefing and ensure that your game experience is not ruined by it. Many mechanics in the game are directed at that. Griefing is an issue when consequences in a game are too harsh. We believe that when griefing is possible something is not well balanced in the game and needs adjustments.
Q: How does the map growth/variety works?
A: Map grows on total population but does not shrink. The map generates fully automatically similar to Minecraft, we will just limit it's growing rate based on the population. In future it's planned to have different bio-mes like desert, forest, islands, just sea... The engine is already prepared for that.
Q: How do i find my friends in-game?
A: You will have a direction marker/position system. There will be a mini-map available but ONLY if you built the RADAR and it will only work in a certain range. You can set it to self-only, clan-only or public.
Q: Clan/Friends Management?
A: You will get an extra app for your iPhone/Tablet which you can use to look at the state of your clan & belongings. It will also be integrated into our website for those who prefer using a PC/do not own an iPhone/Tablet. One thing we did not enjoy in other games was always the clan management - we have a single DEV exclusively working on that app.
Q: Losing buildings and items during raid/combat?
A: Losing buildings and items will be very common in our game but time spent on gathering/crafting can be secured by using your personal locker/global inventory. So while people can still destroy your outpost you can rebuild it with the materials you collected, you can recover from a full loss more easily. People can destroy your locker and your spawn points, all you have to do then is getting the materials to get your locker up again to access your resources - we believe this game mechanic is critical.
Q: How does the "Claiming Land" feature works?
A: As an individual you can claim land by building the "flag". This structure prevents anyone but you or your clan mates from building in the area - that makes it significant harder to raid a house or town. However! Everyone can configure it. When you walk up to it a menu appears and you can set the behavior to "Self-Only, Clan-Only, Everyone". So if you do not want strangers to switch the status you'll better do not place it at your front door.
Q: What does the Radar from the trailer do?
A: When you build a Radar it'll supply you with a mini-map showing all players in that region - as long as it's powered. This will give you a powerful advantage over attackers - unless they attack the RADAR first and destroy it to even out the odds. with a RADAR griefers should also have a hard time since you will see them coming. but like the flag, everyone can build it, everyone can walk up and change the button to "public/clan/self only".
Q: Example of in-game Items/Structures?
A: Houses, defenses/walls (e.g guard towers), platforms (roads/concrete fundamentals), resource gathering structures like oil-rigs, fuel-tanks, barracks, utilities (like crafting table/beds/furnace/safe/lockers etc. ), weapons (pistols, rifles, snipers, explosives), tools (hatchet etc.) - this is of course not the final list.
Q: Dinosaurs health?
A: Team-play will be necessary to hunt dinosaurs, especially the big ones. You will not be able to kill any dinosaurs alone using melee weapons. Attacking a t-rex alone will very likely result in death.
Q: Why are there only 4 dinosaur species in the game?
A: There will be 6 more species that are currently in development. Full list below:
Allosaurus
Compsognathus
Diplodocus
Parasaurolophus
Quetzalcoatlus
Spinosaurus
Stegosaurus
Triceratops
Tyrannosaurus
Velociraptors
Q: So how does this differ from The Stomping Land?
A: We believe the biggest difference between Beasts Of Prey and Stomping Land is the focus of the game-play and the setting. Stomping Land seems to be all about the dinosaurs and the experience to survive in that setting in some sort of realistic way. Our focus is freedom of choice, the fighting over land & resources and how your actions affect others. Our mechanics/developments are all aimed at giving you choices that affect the world as a whole. The game-world is free of any fixed setting - in the end we are mixing up dinosaurs with modern weapons, structures & cars. We had a very nice back-story for this but we dropped it as we do not like to limit the game-mechanics in any way.
Q: Oculus Rift - Rift integration is going to be available on the first build?
A: Yes, it's in, but the controls - while we love to run through this world using the Rift the controls are somewhat messy since you can run into a different direction than you are actually looking, this can get quite confusing - we are not happy with that so far. Additionally there is a known issue with the in-game GUI not displaying properly in Rift-Mode.
Q: More about the Early-Early Access?
A: Destruction of buildings/structures will not be possible at launch. We have it in place but we like to see how you guys are playing the game. Giving you the hammer of doom to tear down buildings without knowing how all our game-mechanics work out would be unwise. Especially since we are going for an one-world/one-server concept the first experience should not be "Great, after 3 hours playing some guys took my stuff and destroyed everything i was doing".
There is C4 & Rocket Launchers in the game but it will not do any damage to structures yet. So right now you can build, craft, hunt dinosaurs and do PvP without getting kicked back to 0 by anyone. Just remember this won't stay forever, we will slowly active more and more game-mechanics for the next 2 weeks;
1. Give you an item to destroy your own buildings.
2. Extend it to work on clan-owned buildings.
3. Activate the C4/Rocket Launcher to damage structures.
4. Extend melee damage to destroy structures.
But we will discuss with you about all these mechanics and based on your feedback if they stay in the game - or not.
