Private for those who are registered and have been here for X amount of days?

Discussion that inspired this thread here:

Ah! I just posted before seeing this thread, so here it is again;

I'm completely with you, I don't even know why indexing was allowed again in the first place. It's not like we're a huge piracy forum (no links, no files, not even full site NAMES) but still, a little bit of privacy, like in World News, wouldn't hurt and it would at least leave us free to discuss certain aspects that would be best left unseen by prying eyes.

Having Scene Chat set to registered/xDays would be a smart move, I think. Just like World News requires members to be registered and just like the Freebies section has a set post limit before it can be viewed also.

I also guess to be technical, we're not even "allowed" to mention names of sites like people talking about NZBRUS. This has gotten to be REALLY relaxed. Mods were pretty strict on the mentioning of torrent sites but for whatever reason, when usenet started getting big all a sudden it was ok.

I think that these forums should have more separation alltogether, like

1. Public sections (don't need to be registered to view them)

2. Registered sections (need to be registered, but need no rep. to post or view them)

3. Private sections (need to be registered, need to be a "high standing member" (reach a certain amount of vouches from other high standing members) to view, and post.

Of course, nothing illegal, just discussions of a more private nature among people we know will stay on topic and act "civilized" (sort of like a less VIP, VIP section).

Yes, yes I'm back.
Somewhat.

Indexing isn't that bad, the hump was hardly to find on Google. Some new people ain't bad and, especially the gaming forum, really provides useful content. Some other sections should not have indexing. I don't think it's very useful for mrt to just say this, he might want section names then Smile

Imo:
NFOHump + The Other -> no indexing, readable only for registered users.
The Gaming Arena + Multimedia Life + Apps, Help and Tech + Totally...Fun! -> indexing and readable by everyone.

I saw things like that in here and in other "woman problems" topics so...... Am I the only one that thinks some authorities needs to be alerted about Saner and him possibly being a rapist and/or kidnapper ?Smile

This, indexing will bring us some more folks here, but I think the private scene chat could work out nicely as well.

BAaazzziiing. Now to have that Usenet thread moved there lol

Thanks MRT

How about renaming it since "scene" stuff is hardly relevant anymore.

I'd still like a private standing members chat forum too. Where we can post and discuss private topics, pics and such, without them being public..
