System shock 2 is undisputed king for me. nothing else is even close.
Then there's, Thief 1 and 2, Deus ex 1 and 3, Gothic 1 and 2, Anachronox, Outcast, Fallout 1 and NV, Alan Wake, Half-life 1, Unreal 1, Operation Flashpoint 1, Dark Souls, Morrowind, Dark Forces II, Broken Sword 1, AvP 1, witcher 1.
for multiplayer its l4d 1 and 2 and DayZ.
And of course, a lot of others that would deserve a mention as fucking fantastic games, but the list would be giant.
