Ankh: A LOT of people with high-income I know reason the same way. It's the same with parking tickets, they'd rather take a parking ticket than waste work hours on finding a parking spot and walking to their work place. It's pretty funny when I come to think of it.
In Finland the fines for speeding are income-based (percentage) which makes it a bit more fair imo.

Yeah I usually drive like 30-40kmh above the speed limit on the freeways here in sweden. Dont really see the point in driving exactly at the limit. Different when I drive in the city though, have to be more careful because of all the morons riding bicycles...

Yeah I know about both people with high income and finlands income based. I really dislke people who breaks the law just cos they can afford. It's selfish and disrespect to other people on the road.

It's really funny, friends, parents, it's all the same when I'm a passenger in their car, EVERYONE complains how bad other drivers are, how stupid cyclists are, etc. - literally everyone. It's probably true though, which means that everyone that complains (including you) are terrible drivers as well.

I don't have a lot of respect for the law myself, unless when it comes to the well being of myself, animals and other people.
With that said, a collision in 110Km/h or a collision in 160Km/h will most likely result in the same way.

145kmh?? in a 110kmh? highway?? here the limit is 120kmh and the cops give at least 130kmh limit no problem, usually i drive 110kmh, i drive faster in the city , dont know why, but 50kmh limit, i usually go in 60 or 70kmh, a few years ago i got 300€ fine 110kmh in a 50 kmh

Congrats you actually saw police in Sweden :O
Their is way too little police in this country, especially when you are used of Belgium. And you can see that in the ratio of people who don't care and just do whatever they want. In every country you have people like that, but the less power/quantity the police force that ratio goes up.
How police drive and such... I don't really care, they have enough of a crap job in this country, I really pity them. And at least they have the skill to drive like that unlike the youth who think they are all rally drivers around here

^^ You definitely deserved more... Have a friend who is a notorious fast driver... Well he lost his license several times and currently it doesn't look good for him to get it back... which is good for all other drivers and pedestrians I guess
For me, being from germany, I do not really understand how you use 160km/h and fast in the same sentence though

It's not so bad. Here's how it usually happens:
You're diving in a 80km/h city boulevard with 21km/h over the speed limit, that's 101km/h on a 3-lane one way road, which is negligible and a fine of around 25eur here.
But suddenly a wild petrol station appears, and there's a sign for a new speed limit of 50km/h, and you miss that sign and there's a camera after the petrol station - BAM 51km/h over the speed limit.
Gets you a fine of 150eur + 3months suspended licence.
A friend of mine did that with a bike, and got his licence suspended for 2months, because he didn't object to the fine. And he was lucky that was in the autumn so he didn't loose that much of bike ride time.
BTW: highway limit is 140km/h, and you won't get a ticket unless you go over 151km/h, so you can go 150km/h on the highway non-stop. But people generally either drive 100-130km/h or 160-200km/h+. I just set the cruise control to 148..

And every one of them should have their license revoked indefinitely. And i love how every single person driving is saying how they are better then anyone else and every other driver, cyclist, pedestrian is an idiot and blabla.
Yeah, not a big fan of cars and people driving them (without any respect for the life of others).

But I also know driving without (pretty much) any sleep is a bad idea, but some energy drinks actually helped me to focus a lot better. And iv never felt asleep behind the wheel as iv heard 50% of people have done once or more. Thats some scary statistics right there O.o

Did you just compare something bad with something bad?
"Oh, at least I didn't murder him, I only put him in coma!"

Well I wonder why people still think driving faster will result in a lot of time gained.
I like racing, I like speed but I never do it outside of the track or an abandoned parking in the middle of nowhere.
The best thing my mom said to me before I started driving was: You never know what people will do, so always make sure you are in a position of control rather than assuming what others will do.
But the thing is: everyone think they are the best drivers around. I see it on a daily basis, people in sporty cars going all racy, accelerating fast, driving fast and then you see them taking a curve and you burst in laughter how badly they take them.
Still remember that idiot from my hometown last year, after driving a kid over. "I wasn't driving too fast". Happened in the first few meters of the street mister tuned car accelerating so fast so he couldn't react to the kid on the street. Not his fault, blameless in his view because he kept on the speed limit...
All I want is for people to reconsider their driving habits/style. There are places for that, a town/city or any area with people around is not the place. Something unexpected can always happen, so try to be prepared for such times.

What i hate about speeding/driving drunk is that, i'dont care care if you end up dead, but more than often people who do end up speeding/driving drunk end up killing the driver who comes from opposite direction and has done nothing wrong. You can't justify your wrong doing when you are not the only one on the road.

In here most of the people also don't give much shit about the speeding limits. When it says 110Kmh, most "normal" people would drive 130Km/h. (Normal means not old people and incompetent women, lol)
A question for you guys in the rest of the world - Is it common to encounter slow moving cars in the middle and left lane that you have to bypass from the right? Drivers know the left lane is for fast driving only?
Because here it's like people don't understand (especially women and old people) that the left lane is intended to fast moving cars. Can't they see people are bypassing them from the right??? Don't they get it's dangerous and it's their fault??
I just always wondered if only here it's this fucked up.
