I love these invasion movies. Nice to see Spielberg on the list. Looks great! OMG, OMG, OMG!!! I want it now! So damn excited by this one. I know some hated Independence day but I loved it!
Exactly what my point of view on the world is, that "aliens" are examining us carefully before invading. I wonder what the aliens want with this invasion. Often It's about resources or control, but this looks more like resource gathering.
I just can't understand why they just won't plant a virus instead of bombarding the planet. It's just plain stupid.

seems like a good movie.
But, this trailer is too short  , you only see weird colours in the sky and then explosion.
somebody has another trailer?
i have this "movie" on LP, meaning its a told story. very cool 
In the 50's this movie was already made, but the aliens were flying saucers, and not like the original (picture above).
Hope they do look like that in this version

Check out on itunes for bigger and full screen sized trailer. The movie is also due for Summer 2005 so I'ts some time left, hehe. I would like a movie a little more like HL2 where a race controls the humans with a iron fist.

A half life 2 movie would fail at this day and age because the human race does on succeed in the end. And seeing how most mainstream movies are made in Hollywood which is located in America a movie about the human race being overtaken by an alien race and loosing will just not be made. If lets say Gordon were to kick their ass and everything went back to normal and people were happy then yes the movie would be made and it would be successful.
I’m waiting for this movie (wotw) Spielberg is pretty good at sci-fi his best movie still is Close Encounters of the Third Kind. And since this is remake/sequel of wotw I’m sure Spielberg will do a hell of a job. And in 2006 he will win an oscar

lol i was refering to the album by jeff wayne. the pc game cover looks just like the album cover i was refering to. sorry

Invasion of the body snatchers in a very old tale. Heck it's even from the days of radio-tv. The remakes are just that remakes. They reuse that story and nothing else. Half Life 2 is very modern. So it is a new story. And studios only look for what sells. And showing Americans how their 'country' can easily be overtaken by aliens will not sell right now.
It will make some money on the market due to fans here and there but the critics will ridicule it.
I know the best actor for Gordon though  Ben Affleck. It’s a deep joke. If some didn’t get it. Ben Affleck sucks at acting. Gordon freeman does not say a word. 
It takes 5 years after an unfortunate event has happened that a motion picture can and will be made.
Hell that number five (5) has been changing over the years. Any tragedy will be made into a movie. In due time we'll see a 'WHEN TSUNAMIS ATTACK" special on FOX and then a motion picture about how a limbless girl (she's Jewish so the movie would get a nomination for an Oscar) survived the first tsunami incident/wave and saved the lives of her close friends (a Black man, a Chinese man, and any other coloured races) and near the end just as the final wave struck and their lives would be wiped out the girl and her friends of various races are lifted above the wave by an American chopper Their lives are saved. Ending is happy. Americans are the heroes. A Jewish limbless girl struggles through life. Movie gets an Oscar.
Sorry for the mild use of Racism and Anti-Semitism. It was the only a way to depict how Hollywood and the Oscar committee works.

BTW the alien "ships" in the book are almost described the same way the striders in Half Life 2 look like

Hey I too can add a thing to something already created
I can rewrite star wars and arm the Wookie with awesome battle armour and give him Jedi powers. I'll call him Master Wook and Han Solo, his trusted companion, would be the sloppy, unwanted, unhappy, rebel soldier that was saved from the dark side by master wook. And now, true to his world, Han Solo is helping Master Wook rid the universe off the dark sided people. That’s just episode one!
Episode two is when Han Solo fights his greatest foe! And as he’s about to be defeated Han Solo would remember his dark side training and use his foes powers against him.
Episode three would be all how Master Wook is trying to save Han Solo from the dark forces. And in episode three, the dramatic conclusion, Master Wook and Han Solo fight to the death. Master Wook wins and as the lifeless body of Han Solo is lifted into the air, by some unknown magical force, all the dark forces escape him and his body falls to the ground. Master Obi Wan and That little green guy appear from nowhere and revive Han Solo giving him superhuman abilities.
Then Han Solo and Master Wook fly off and go back to their duties; ridding the universe of the dark forced people.
And I win an Oscar for original script. Hahaha

The striders in morrowind do look a lot like the ones in half life 2. Maybe they can do what those in half life 2 do. But they are just tamed by the wizards? :/

Sublime, it would be cool if it happened like that. Would be decent even. But I don't think any Spielberg sci/fi movie dealt with the complete loss of human race. Even his other alien movie was all about invasion. Then in the end they all became friends. That is how i see this movie turning out.
We'll have a lot of heave battle scenes and in the end the president of the world would make contact with the alien species and they'll talk. Human race and alien race become close friends. You'll have shots of the president shaking hands with the alien leader. And poof. The end.

I also hate that cliche bullshit, about how the Americans always save the world. But such movies sell i guess. Imagine, Germany saved the world in ID, i think alot of people would have found that gay. |
