|
 |
Bricked my old HTC Desire after flashing a special Hboot for a specific ICS ROM. Very very annoying. I've tried several dousins of hoots, kernels and ROMs to find the perfect combination. I can't use adb to debug the phone... I CAN use fastboot to flash new hboots, boots, recoveries etc. but screen remains pitch black and nothing changes....
This is what I can get:
e:\Desire Stuff\fastboot>fastboot getvar all
(bootloader) version: 0.5
(bootloader) version-bootloader: 7.35.5017
(bootloader) version-baseband: 5.11.05.27
(bootloader) version-cpld: None
(bootloader) version-microp: 051d
(bootloader) version-main:
(bootloader) serialno: SH0BVPL09852
(bootloader) product: bravo
(bootloader) platform: HBOOT-8x50
(bootloader) modelid: PB9920000
(bootloader) cidnum: HTC__Y13
(bootloader) battery-status: good
(bootloader) battery-voltage: 3425mV
(bootloader) partition-layout: TexasICS-220/10/206
(bootloader) security: off
(bootloader) build-mode: ENG
(bootloader) boot-mode: RUU
(bootloader) commitno-bootloader: 0c3a097c
(bootloader) hbootpreupdate: 11
all: Done!
finished. total time: 0.000s
This is what does NOT belong there: (bootloader) partition-layout: TexasICS-220/10/206
It's a blackrose hboot/partition setup. After I flashed that my phone was bricked. I've tried everything from flashing a dozen different .img's, run the HTC original RUU updater (which fails when trying to write the system image) etc..
If I try to use adb this is what I get:
e:\Desire Stuff\fastboot>adb shell
* daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 *
* daemon started successfully *
error: device not found
So I'm stuck in hboot/fastboot mode on the phone with a pitch black screen. I tried booting a complete kernel image-system but the phone just vibrated and stayed dead.
Apparently the SPL/Radio is the real problem. The ones coming with Blackrose were for a different model (Incredible S) and that bricked my phone completely and irreversible. No warranty either.
But I'm able to reach it via fastboot commands. All weekend wasted on trying to get the damn thing to work.
I already bought a second hand Samsung Galaxy S (yes, old stuff, I can't afford to buy new phones with 2-year contracts, I don't want to be bound by a contract. Besides, I like to get smartphones that are a little older and use every trick in the book (and some not in the book) to get performance out of it that it was never meant for. And it worked fine. I had a ton of scripts that fixed OOM FC's, several int2ext scripts (have a Class 10 microSDHC) etc. and was looking for the best ICS ROM. Unfortunately I used a boot/hboot/partition setup for a completely different model which black-bricked my phone.
I'll mess with it until my Galaxy S arrives (which has better hardware than my desire).

I've spent months on xda to look for new updates, new kernels etc.! After bricking the phone last week I've been following dozens of guides to unbrick it, nothing works (ADB just doesn't connect/find the phone), only a small number of fastboot commands work, most just gives me errors. Tried different drivers, (HTC Bootloader, HTC ADB Loader, HTC Composite ADB Loader) etc. etc. but it seems partitions are corrupt. I've tried to downgrade the phone with a whole bunch of different HTC unlock RUU's signed files from HTC, I've tried everything and then some...
I got it for free so not much of a loss there, but very annoying since it was fun to mess around with. Will definitely be more careful when I mess around with my Galaxy S.

Pretty sure you need a new board for it. Had a Desire Z a couple of years ago, suddenly stopped working, tried to flash a stock HTC Gingerbread ROM and I remember getting pretty much the same errors, I had to replace the board on it as well.
R7 2700x @4GHz / MSI B450 Tomahawk / beQuiet! Dark Rock 4 / 32GB @3000 MHz / MSI RTX 2060 Gaming Z / Samsung 850 EVO 250GB / Western Digital 1TB / Fractal Design Meshify C Dark / SuperFlower Leadex Gold 650W / DELL whatever 27 inch IPS

Got JB running on my Samsung Galaxy S Plus @ 328-1700MHz, SIO, InteractiveX. Perfectly smooth not to mention it outperformed my Desire 3x.

Did I mention I bricked (I mean completely, it doesn't even power up or show any life signs. Deader than Captain Ahab).
Took me 5 days to flash it to death because of a sudden new bug after I flashed a new recovery that happened to contain the MMC_ERASE_CAP command, and certain Samsungs with a certain eMMC-chip (made late december 2011/january and forward 2012) will see the eMMC simply die and become impossible to repair/fix. But I tried.
Oh well, back on my old trusty dumbphone SonyEricsson W595 which keeps going and going and going.. I've dropped it more time than I care to think of but it just keep working like it's new.

ouch that sucks frant but it's why i keep my old backup phone (old samsung with a battery that needs more recharging than ever since it's 7y old now) but the damn thing is still running like new so (waiting on this months paycheck to get a galaxy S3 with 4g)
The pricedifference here is around 60euro's from my carrier so it's not really worth getting the 3g model since i usually keep my phones for quitte a while (i really do not see the need to get every flashy piece of crap every new release gimme a phone that's stable with a custom rom anyday)
